Player of the Week
Brittney Whiteside, Wright State, Sophomore, Guard, Columbus, Ohio
Whiteside posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds while adding five assists and three steals in a 98-76 win over IPFW. Four days later in a 97-84 victory over Ohio, Whiteside finished the contest with 25 points, one short of her career best. She also set career highs with 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Jackie Closser, Butler, Sophomore, Guard, Alexandria, Ind./Monroe
Closser turned in an all-tournament team performance at the Billiken Classic this weekend, leading the Bulldogs to two wins and the tournament crown in St. Louis, Mo. In Friday's win over four-time defending Ohio Valley champion Austin Peay, Closser went 4-of-4 from three-point range and scored 14 points. She added five rebounds and five assists in the 69-52 win. Closser had just two turnovers in 39 minutes of action. In Saturday's championship win over Alabama A&M, Closser posted 11 points, hitting all six of her free throw attempts to seal the 54-44 win. The 5'5" guard tied a career-high with eight rebounds in 40 minutes of work.
Lindsey Pasquinzo, Detroit, Junior, Guard, Shelby Township, Mich./Utica
Pasquinzo fashioned together a stellar week for the Titans as she averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two games. Connecting on nearly 47 percent of her attempts, she tickled the twines at a .429 clip from downtown. Her efforts were rewarded as she was named along with Katie Solner to the all-tournament team at the Wonder/Hostess Buckeye Classic in Columbus, OH. After having never scored 20 points in a game during her collegiate career, Pasquinzo posted a career-high 21 points in a 78-75 setback to Bradley before topping that mark one day later with 22 tallies in a 69-56 triumph over Yale. Against the Braves she connected on eight of her 12 shots from the floor, including 3-of-5 beyond the arc. Going a perfect 2-for-2 at the line, she also dished out four assists while recording two steals. In Detroit's victory over Yale, she registered game highs in rebounds (7) and assists (4) while snatching a pair of steals. Pasquinzo's trio of three-pointers moved her into sole possession of 10th place in school history in career rainmakers with 68. For the season she is averaging 16.3 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field.
Krystal Hugelier, UIC, Sophomore, Guard, Elmhurst, Ill./York
Hugelier averaged 17.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest as the Flames finished 1-2 during the week. Hugelier helped UIC to its first win of the season with her firstcareer, double-double with a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Flames' 55-41 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday night. Hugelier followed that performance up on Saturday afternoon, tying a career-high with 25 points, on 9-for-15 shooting, including seven rebounds in an overtime loss to SEMO. Following that game, Hugelier was named to the SEMO Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team. For the season, Hugelier is second on the team in scoring with 15 points per contest and leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 per game.
Tiffany Mor, UW-Green Bay, Senior, Forward, Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran
Mor continued her success defensively, as she swatted a career-high six blocked shots in UW-Green Bay's 92-52 win over Alcorn State Nov. 26. Her six blocks is tied for fourth best in team history for a single-game effort, while Mor added UW-Green Bay's first double-double of the year with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mor also helped the Phoenix wrap up a challenging three-game, four-day road swing Monday with a 15-point effort at Kent State Nov. 22, while her four blocked shots were then a career high. For the week, Mor shot 15-of-25 (.600) from the field while tallying 10 blocked shots in two games' work.
Teri Huff, UW-Milwaukee, Senior, Forward, Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside
Huff paced UWM this past week as the Panthers went 1-2 versus tough competition. The senior started the week by scoring 13 points with four rebounds and three assists in a loss at No. 19 DePaul on Nov. 23. The Milwaukee native then cranked it up over the weekend by scoring 32 points in two games en route to all-tournament honors at the Seattle Times Classic in Seattle. Huff scored a career-high 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting in an 86-75 loss at Washington before scoring 11 points to go with 4-of-7 shooting and four rebounds in a victory over Columbia on Nov. 27. For the week Huff averaged 15.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while connecting on 2-of-3 from three point land and 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the field.
Jen Perugini, Youngstown State, Senior, Forward, Sault Saint Marie, Ontario/St.Mary's
Perugini led the Penguins to a 1-2 record last week with 21.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. She also shot 51.1 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from behind the 3-point line and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. She scored a career-high 26 points with 17 rebounds against Ohio while collecting a double-double against Florida Atlantic with 21 points and 14 rebounds. In the championship game against James Madison, Perugini posted a team-high 17 points. Perugini was named to the FAU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.
Team Notes and Quotes
Butler Bulldogs (3-1)
Sophomore Ellen Hamilton earned Billiken Classic MVP honors, leading the Bulldogs with 16.5 points per game in the team's two wins, including 17 points in Friday's win over Austin Peay that matched her career high.
Butler held its two opponents in St. Louis to a combined .324 shooting (36-111), including an 8-of-44 performance from behind the arc.
Butler hit 9-of-15 three-pointers in Friday's win, a sizzling 60 percent clip. The Bulldogs shot free throws at a .795 mark over the weekend, knocking down 35 of 44 attempts, including 16-of-17 in Saturday's championship game second half.
The Bulldogs begin a stretch of playing three straight opponents who appeared in the postseason last season. Tuesday takes Butler to WNIT quarterfinalist Western Michigan before the Bulldogs face-off with Mid-Con champ Valparaiso Saturday in the Hoosier State Classic. Miami (Ohio) comes to Hinkle Fieldhouse, Wednesday, Nov. 8, after earning a WNIT berth in 2003-04.
Cleveland State Vikings (0-5)
After opening the season with five games in nine days, the Vikings play just once this week, traveling to Central Michigan on Dec. 2. The series with the Chippewas is tied 2-2.
The last time CSU started 0-5 was two years ago. The Vikings ended that skid with a 66-63 victory at Central Michigan.
Nicole Thomas' 13 points and 10 rebounds against Texas A & M was the first career double-double by any of the 15 players on CSU's roster.
Detroit Titans (1-2)
Junior Katie Solner once gain proved why she is arguably the glue that holds the Titans together as she culminated a brilliant week with her selection to the Wonder/Hostess Buckeye Classic All-Tournament Team. In two games, she averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 rebounds per contest all while shooting nearly 44 percent (.438) from the floor. She established a new career high for points as she poured in a game-high 24 tallies versus Bradley. A day later she added 15 in a win over Yale.
Solner is nearing 500 points for her career as she has 473 career points, a total which is tops among active Titan players.
In spite of claiming the consolation title, Detroit matched tournament champ Ohio State with two selections (Pasquinzo & Solner) on the all-tournament team.
Senior April Savalli's 12-point effort versus Yale represented her first double-figure scoring night since December 22, 2001.
The Titans will have their hands full this week as they will travel to battle nationally ranked Minnesota on Dec. 2 before hosting UNLV and former UDM player Randee Henry in the home opener on Dec. 4.
UIC (1-3)
UIC's seven blocks against Bradley marked the most swats in a game for UIC since Dec. 1, 2002, when the Flames had seven blocks against Mississippi.
Sophomores Kelly True and Jacquay Holmes each had career highs against SEMO on Nov. 27. True tallied 20 points, while Holmes added 16.
Arkansas-Little Rock's 41 points against UIC marked the fewest points scored against the Flames since Nov. 24, 2000, when UIC held South Alabama to 31 points.
Loyola Ramblers (1-3)
Loyola kicked off the week with its first home victory as the Ramblers defeated Eastern Illinois 65-60. On Nov. 26, LUC fell 72-54 to tournament host Maine in the Dead River Classic. The next day, Loyola suffered a tough loss to SEC foe Mississippi State in the consolation game.
Over the weekend, Ciara Henderson became the 15th women's basketball player in school history to join the 1,000-point club.
UW-Green Bay Phoenix (4-0)
With its win over Alcorn State Nov. 26, UW-Green Bay tallied its 11th consecutive home win, the 13th-longest winning streak in the NCAA. The Phoenix will have the opportunity to extend that streak twice this week when it faces Illinois Dec. 1 and instate rival Marquette Dec. 4.
Aided by Tiffany Mor's career best six blocked shots, the Phoenix posted 13 swats against Alcorn State Nov. 26. Those 13 blocks tie for second best in team history.
Sophomore guard Natalie Berglin broke out of a shooting slump with a career performance in UW-Green Bay's win over Alcorn State Nov. 26. Berglin, who missed her first nine three-point field goals of the season including her first two against the Lady Braves, went 5-of-5 from downtown the rest of the way to finish with 15 points off the bench.
UW-Milwaukee Panthers (1-3)
UW-Milwaukee dropped a 89-67 decision to No. 19 DePaul (Nov. 23) before falling 86-75 to Washington in the Seattle Times Classic. The Panthers turned around and defeated Columbia 63-59 in the consolation game the next day. UWM will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Dec. 2 to take on Northern Iowa.
Wright State Raiders (3-0)
Wright State is off to its best start since joining Division I 18 years ago after defeating IPFW and Ohio last week at the Nutter Center.
The Raiders never trailed against the Mastodons as they recorded their highest point total since defeating Morehead State 98-75 at the Nutter Center on Nov. 29, 1997. Two Wright State players recorded double-doubles against IPFW as Jeanette Woodberry had 19 points and a career-high 10 rebounds while Brittney Whiteside had 15 points and 10 boards.
Against Ohio, the Raiders shot 60 percent in scoring 59 first half points and outscored the Bobcats in the paint 78-44 and 24-2 in fast-break points. Angie Ott set a new WSU record for assists in a game at the Nutter Center with nine.
In the two games last week, Wright State outscored the opposition 144-76 in the paint and 44-4 in fast-break points. The two games were also the highest two-game point total (195) in Wright State history and marked the first time WSU has scored 90 or more points in back-to-back games since the 1979-80 season.
Wright State looks to go 4-0 for the first time since 1986-87, its final year in Division II, at home against Miami on Dec. 1 before traveling to Central Michigan on Dec. 4.
Youngstown State Penguins (2-2)Senior Barb Fabianova moved into 10th place on the YSU career three-pointers made list with 75 and was also named to the FAU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.
YSU played in an in-season tournament championship game for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
