HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

BUTLER BULLDOGS (11-6 overall, 6-0 HL)

  • The Butler men's (7-0) and women's (6-0) teams are both undefeated in League play heading into Thursday's action. The combined 13-0 record is the best among all Division I schools in the country.
  • Butler is off to its second-best Horizon League start in school history at 6-0. The Bulldogs started League play 9-0 in 1992-93.
  • Butler takes a seven-game winning streak into Friday's contest against Valparaiso. The Bulldogs have not won eight straight since Nov. 23-Dec. 29, 2007.
  • Butler has not allowed more than 50 points during the seven-game winning streak, which ties for the longest such streak in program history.
  • After entering last week with a 9-0 record when leading at halftime and 0-6 mark when trailing at the break, the Bulldogs picked up their first two victories of the year when trailing at the midpoint. Butler came back from a 28-26 halftime deficit to score a 64-45 win over Loyola on Thursday and rallied from a 25-21 short-coming to claim a 58-48 decision over UIC on Saturday.

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (9-8 overall, 3-2 HL)
  • Sophomore Shawnita Garland has averaged 16.6 points per outing in five games as a starter.
  • Cleveland State tied its season high for points in a game on Saturday at Youngstown State -- an 80-51 win.
  • The Vikings have held five of their last six opponents to 55 points or less. CSU also tied a season low with 14 turnovers against Youngstown State.Junior Jessica Roque handed out a career-high nine assists on Saturday at Youngstown State.
  • Cleveland State shot .561 (32-for-57) on Saturday at Youngstown State, marking the fourth time this season that the Vikings have shot at least 50 percent from the floor.

    DETROIT TITANS (5-12 overall, 1-5 HL)
  • Head coach Autumn Rademacher returned to her old stomping grounds on Thursday when Detroit played at Green Bay. UDM's first-year mentor was a Phoenix assistant coach for the past four seasons.
  • Senior Sandi Brown scored a game-high 16 points on Thursday at Green Bay and team-best 17 points two days later at Milwaukee.

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (13-3 overall, 5-0 HL)
  • Green Bay recorded its 20th straight home victory over Wright State on Saturday and its 14th consecutive home win over Detroit on Thursday.
  • Senior Rachel Porath was honored on Saturday for reaching 1,000 career points. She then scored 17 points on 7-of-8 from the floor to match Green Bay's top single-game shooting performance of the season.
  • The Phoenix has allowed just 41.8 points per game during Horizon League play and has held two conference opponents below 40 points.
  • Green Bay allowed just 13 points in the first half to Detroit -- the fewest it has allowed in any half this season.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (5-10 overall, 0-5 HL)
  • Loyola has lost seven straight games after opening the season with a 5-3 record.
  • Junior Shannon Finnegan recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in 19 minutes on Saturday against Valparaiso.
  • Junior Maggie McCloskey knocked down a pair of three-pointers against the Crusaders to extend her NCAA-record streak of games with a three to 65.
  • Loyola's 45 points on Thursday against Butler were a season low.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (7-9 overall, 2-3 HL)
  • Milwaukee nailed a school-record 15 three-pointers on Saturday against Detroit. The previous record was 14 set in a 100-46 win over Youngstown State on Feb. 2, 2002.
  • Milwaukee's 24-to-12 assist-to-turnover ratio against Detroit was its best since Jan. 27, 2007. Senior Markita Barnes had 10 assists -- the Panthers' first double-figure performance in that category since March 9, 2007.
  • Junior Jodie McClain's drilled six three-pointers vs. Detroit -- the most by a Panther since Nov. 9, 2007.

    UIC FLAMES (9-6 overall, 3-2 HL)
  • UIC totaled four more steals (14-10) and three more blocks (7-4) than its foes last week.
  • UIC leads the Horizon League in blocked shots per game (4.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (0.93).

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (9-7 overall, 4-2 HL)
  • Sophomore Katie Emig scored a career-high 14 points on Thursday against UIC. Ten different Crusaders have now scored at least 10 points once this season.
  • Senior Aimee Litka's two three-pointers on Saturday vs. Loyola moved her into seventh place on Valpo's all-time list (141).
  • Senior Launa Hochstetler became the sixth Crusader in school history to reach the 300 assist mark for her career on Saturday against Loyola (303).
  • Valparaiso has made 89 free throws in conference play this season while opponents have attempted just 61.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (7-10 overall, 3-3 HL)
  • Wright State held Milwaukee to 41 points on Thursday -- the fewest it has allowed since Jan. 8, 2005.
  • Sophomore Shey Peddy led all scorers with a season-high 24 points against the Panthers. She also added seven assists, six rebounds and six steals.
  • Wright State scored just 39 points on Saturday against Green Bay -- its lowest point total since Nov. 9, 2007.

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (2-14 overall, 0-5 HL)
  • Senior Nikita LaFleur grabbed 11 rebounds on Saturday against Cleveland State -- her third straight game of 10-plus boards. LaFleur is averaging a Horizon League-best 9.0 rebounds per contest.
  • Freshman Camisha Alexander came off the bench to score nine points against Cleveland State. It was her highest point total since scoring 11 on Dec. 17, 2008.
