HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

BUTLER BULLDOGS (14-8 overall, 9-2 HL)

At 9-2, Butler is off to its best League start since 1997-98. The 11-game record also ties for third best in school history.

Butler held Wright State to 45 points on Friday and Detroit to 42 points on Sunday. The Bulldogs have limited 11 opponents to 50 or fewer on the scoreboard this season.

Butler is 12-1 on the year when tied or leading at halftime. The Bulldogs have held their foes to an average of just 24.8 points in the first half and limited eight opponents to 20 or fewer points in that period.

Head coach Beth Couture is just one win shy of 100 win at Butler. Her 99 victories rank as the third most in school history.

On Sunday, senior Lade Akande became just the second player in school history to record 1,500 points, 700 rebounds and 100 blocked shots in a career. She is on pace to finish her career in the top 10 of 12 statistical categories.

CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (13-10 overall, 7-4 HL)

Thursday's win was Cleveland State's first in Milwaukee since a 74-69 triumph on Jan. 14, 1999. It also allowed the Vikings to sweep the season series from UWM for the first time since 1998-99.

Cleveland State has held seven League opponents to 55 points or less, including an opponent-low 45 to Milwaukee on Thursday.

Senior Dominique Butler came up one point shy of the sixth triple-double in school history at Milwaukee, finishing with nine points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 steals. Her 10 thefts are the second most in CSU history and tie for the most in a Division I game this season.

Junior Jessica Roque is 20-for-20 from the free-throw line in Horizon League games this season.

Junior Angel Roque returned to the line-up last week after missing the previous nine games with a broken left pinky finger.

DETROIT TITANS (7-15 overall, 3-8 HL)

Detroit tallied season highs in rebounds (49) and made free throws (25) on Friday at Valparaiso.

Junior Heather Hatter matched her career high with 13 points at Valpo, while classmate Chanica Hall dished out a personal-best and game-high eight assists.

Senior Sandi Brown collected game highs of 16 points and four steals on Sunday at Butler.

GREEN BAY PHOENIX (19-3 overall, 11-0 HL)

Green Bay ranks second in the country in scoring defense (50.5), fifth in turnover margin (+6.59) and 10th in steals per game (12.3).

Green Bay has held opponents under 50 points 11 times this season. The program record is 13.

The Phoenix set an all-time record for steals in a game with 27 on Thursday vs. Youngstown State. Six players had at least three swipes with sophomore Heather Golden (6), senior Erin Templin (5) and freshman Hannah Quilling (4) all posting career highs.

Head coach Matt Bollant is now 28-1 in Horizon League regular-season games. Green Bay has also won 26 straight regular-season conference home games.

LOYOLA RAMBLERS (6-14 overall, 1-9 HL)

Junior Maggie McCloskey went 0-for-4 from the three-point line on Saturday at UIC and saw her NCAA-record streak of 69 straight games with at least one three-pointer come to an end. McCloskey had nailed at least one trifecta in each game since Dec. 19, 2006.

Loyola was held to 50 points against UIC and has scored 56 points or less in eight of its last nine outings.

MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (10-12 overall, 5-6 HL)

Senior Traci Edwards has recorded 19 blocks in her last four games, including a school-record seven on Saturday vs. Youngstown State. She is now leading the Horizon League in that category.

Milwaukee had nine rejections against Youngstown State, which tied a season high for the second-straight game. The figure also ties for second in school history.

Sophomore Jenilee Klomstad and senior Katie Fournier became the ninth and 10th Panthers to score in double-figures this season on Saturday.

UIC FLAMES (12-9 overall, 6-4 HL)

Junior Jessie Miller was held scoreless for just the second time in her career on Wednesday at Eastern Illinois, but still managed to tie a career high with eight assists.

Freshman Kiara Strickland came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points against Loyola.

Senior Nikki Grobbecker has averaged a team-best 7.1 rebounds in her last seven tilts.

Head coach Lisa Ryckbosch earned her 100th career win on Saturday -- ironically, against her alma mater, Loyola.

UIC is now 9-3 at home this season, heading into a pair of critical Horizon League home games this week.

VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (11-10 overall, 6-5 HL)

Senior Aimee Litka has moved into fifth place on Valparaiso's all-time list with 153 three-pointers, while senior Agnieszka Kulaga has moved into 13th with 234 assists.

Aimee Litka (855) and Agnieszka Kulaga (848) now rank 19th and 20th on Valparaiso's career scoring list.

Agnieszka Kulaga ranks sixth in the country with a .902 free-throw percentage.

WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (10-12 overall, 6-5 HL)

Wright State suffered through an 8:43 scoring drought at the end of Friday's first half against Butler. The Raiders scored just 15 points in the frame -- their lowest total this season.

Sophomore Shey Peddy paced Wright State with 16 points and five assists vs. the Bulldogs.

Wright State shot 42 percent from the floor and had four players score at least 10 points on Sunday at Valparaiso, but could not overcome the Crusaders hitting 20-of-24 foul shots.

Shey Peddy led Wright State with 15 points, four assists and four steals vs. Valpo.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (2-20 overall, 0-11 HL)

Youngstown State committed a season-low nine turnovers and tied a season high with seven three-pointers on Saturday at Milwaukee.

Youngstown State also had 12 assists vs. Milwaukee, marking only the second time this year that it has had more assists than miscues.

The Penguins shot a season-best .900 (18-for-20) from the free-throw line on Thursday at Green Bay. The percentage was YSU's best since shooting .909 (20-for-22) on Dec. 21, 2007.
