HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

BUTLER BULLDOGS (16-7 overall, 9-3 HL)

  • Butler is 7-1 and shooting .485 from the floor over its last eight contests. Junior Chloe Hamilton owns a .611 clip from the field during that span, while classmate Alyssa Pittman checks in at .439 from long distance.


  • Senior Melanie Thornton ranks in the Horizon League's top five for blocked shots (2nd, 1.8), scoring (2nd, 15.4), field-goal percentage (4th, .539), steals (5th, 2.1) and rebounding (5th, 7.9). She has also reached the 10-point mark in 17 straight games.


  • Head Coach Beth Couture, who owns a 121-110 record in her eighth year at Butler, needs just four more victories to become the school's all-time leader.

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (12-12 overall, 7-6 HL)



  • Senior Kailey Klein needs just 70 points to become the third player in Horizon League history to score 2,000 in a career.


  • Senior Stephaine Crosley knocked down 7-of-10 from the field en route to a career-high 18 points on Saturday at Butler. She also became the 17th player in Cleveland State history to record 500 points and 500 rebounds in a career.


  • Junior Shawnita Garland scored 22 points -- in just 24 minutes -- in Thursday's 82-59 win at Valparaiso, coming up two points shy of her career high.


  • CSU set season highs for points (82) and field-goal percentage (.537) at Valparaiso.

    DETROIT TITANS (13-11 overall, 11-2 HL)



  • Detroit finds itself atop the Horizon League standings 13 games into the conference season for the first time since 1997. The Titans ended up advancing to the 1997 NCAA Tournament after claiming the circuit's regular-season and tournament titles.


  • Detroit owns a six-game winning streak for the first time since 2003-04. UDM has also won 12 of its last 14 overall.


  • The Titans, who have won eight consecutive home tilts, face second-place Butler on Thursday at Calihan Hall.


  • Sophomore Yar Shayok collected 16 points and a career-best 17 rebounds in Thursday's 63-56 win over Loyola. It was her eighth double-double of the season.


  • Freshman Demeisha Fambro came off the bench to score 16 points in Saturday's 64-61 victory over UIC.


  • Senior Brigid Mulroy ranks in the NCAA's top five for three-point percentage (3rd, .507) and free-throw accuracy (5th, .910).

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (20-3 overall, 9-3 HL)



  • Green Bay has won 22 straight home games and 34 consecutive regular-season Horizon League home affairs.


  • The Phoenix has now tallied at least 20 wins in each of the past 11 campaigns.


  • Green Bay ranks among the NCAA leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd, 1.21), assists (4th, 18.7), turnover margin (6th, 7.43), steals (9th, 11.9), field-goal percentage (10th, .464) and free-throw accuracy (10th, .767).


  • Junior Celeste Hoewisch recorded a career-high 23 points in Saturday's 74-63 win over in-state rival Milwaukee.


  • UWGB committed a season-low six turnovers and allowed UWM only two steals in Saturday's nationally-televised tilt.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (13-11 overall, 7-6 HL)



  • Senior Keisha Collins managed her first career double-double in Saturday's 77-68 win over Wright State. She finished with 15 points and a career-high 11 assists, becoming the first LU player to record 10 helpers in a game since 2006-07.


  • Senior Maggie McCloskey's 306 career three-pointers made are second among active players and place her 20th on the NCAA's all-time list.


  • Loyola improved to 6-0 against teams from the state of Ohio this season with the victory over Wright State. WSU has swept Cleveland State, Wright State and Youngstown State in conference action.


  • Loyola's 13 wins are its most in a season since going 15-14 in 2001-02.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (9-14 overall, 4-8 HL)



  • After not losing four consecutive League games between 1998 and this season, Milwaukee has now dropped four straight conference affairs twice this season.


  • Milwaukee's last four opponents have each shot at least 50 percent after its first 19 foes this year failed to reach that mark.


  • The Panthers scored 17 points off the bench on Saturday at Green Bay -- their best total since Jan. 7.

    UIC FLAMES (11-13 overall, 8-5 HL)



  • Sophomore Jasmine Bailey has led UIC in rebounding in 19 of 24 games this season. She collected a team-best 11 boards in Horizon League games against Wright State and Detroit last week.


  • Freshman Lauren Gatto scored a career-high 12 points on Saturday against Detroit.


  • The Flames tied a season-low with only eight turnovers against the first-place Titans.


  • UIC has posted a 126-54 advantage in the paint against its last three opponents.

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (7-16 overall, 4-8 HL)



  • Valparaiso posted an 80-28 win over Youngstown State on Saturday. The 28 points allowed set a new school record and the 52-point margin of victory was Valpo's largest since 1978.


  • Freshman Laura Richards registered a career-high 11 points and career-best five steals against Youngstown State.


  • Freshman Gina Lange collected eight points and seven rebounds vs. YSU after entering the game with just 11 points and six boards all season.


  • Valparaiso shot a season-high .533 against the Penguins.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (8-15 overall, 4-9 HL)



  • Junior LaShawna Thomas poured in a career-best 25 points on Thursday at UIC. She has now topped the 20-point mark nine times in her career with four of those coming this season.


  • Wright State scored a season-best 42 points in the first half on Saturday at Loyola. The Raiders nailed 15-of-19 from the floor, 6-of-8 from three-point range and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in the opening stanza.

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (0-24 overall, 0-13 HL)



  • Freshman Brandi Brown continues to lead the Horizon League in rebounds per game (10.8) and double-doubles (11).


  • Sophomore Macey Nortey, who posted six helpers on Thursday at Butler, continues to rank third in the conference for assists per contest (4.4).


  • Youngstown State was held without a three-point field goal for the first time this season on Saturday at Valparaiso.
