Butler has won all seven of its Horizon League home games this year. The Bulldogs are 9-2 overall at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs are 14-2 this season when holding opponents to less than 60 points and 13-0 when their foes score 50 or fewer. At 11-3, Butler is off to its best 14-game League start since 1997-98. Seniors Lade Akande, Candyce Brown, Candace Jones and Tara Miller will be honored before Saturday's contest against Green Bay. The group has combined for nearly 3,000 points, 1,500 rebounds and over 700 assists. Post players Lade Akande, Susan Lester and Melanie Thornton rank 1-2-3 on the team in rebounds and 1-2-4 in scoring.
CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (16-10 overall, 10-4 HL) Cleveland State improved to 10-4 in the Horizon League with two wins last week. The Vikings have tied last year's squad for the most League victories in school history. Cleveland State's 38 wins over the last two seasons are the second most in a two-year stretch in program history. The Vikings have won 16 games this year after winning 19 a season ago. The program record for wins in back-to-back seasons is 42. The Vikings win over Detroit ensured a second straight winning season. It's the first time since 1982-83 and 1983-84 that CSU has had back-to-back winning seasons. Cleveland State is 10-2 at home this season -- the second-most home wins in school history. The school standard is 11. Senior Natalie Miller played in her 100th career game on Saturday against Detroit.
DETROIT TITANS (9-17 overall, 5-10 HL) Detroit picked up its first season sweep with a 70-62 win over Youngstown State on Thursday. Senior Sandi Brown matched her career high with 27 points at Youngstown State. Brown went 10-of-16 from the field, 7-of-7 from the free-throw line and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Jaleesa Trussell added a career-best 16 points at Youngstown State. Freshman Jalesa Jones led the Titans with 14 points on Saturday at Cleveland State. She nailed 3-of-6 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
GREEN BAY PHOENIX (23-3 overall, 15-0 HL) Green Bay has clinched at least a share of its 11th straight Horizon League regular-season title. It can win the crown outright and wrap up a No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Championship on Thursday with a win or Butler loss. Green Bay's streak of 11 consecutive League titles is the nation's longest. Green Bay leads the country in scoring defense (50.1), ranks fourth in turnover margin (+6.69), seventh in steals (12.4), eighth in field-goal percentage (.460) and ninth in three-point percentage defense (.265). Green Bay has held 13 opponents under 50 points this season, which ties an all-time program record. Head coach Matt Bollant is now 32-1 in Horizon League regular-season games. Green Bay has also won 28 straight regular-season conference home games. The Phoenix's 15-game winning streak is the longest under Bollant.
LOYOLA RAMBLERS (7-17 overall, 2-12 HL) Loyola's win on Thursday was just its second-ever at Milwaukee. The Ramblers had lost 16 straight games at UWM dating back to a 75-72 win back on Dec. 15, 1986. Junior Keisha Collins scored 17 points and tied her career high with eight rebounds at Milwaukee. The backcourt trio of Collins, junior Maggie McCloskey and junior Jessica Hylton combined for 46 of LU's 70 points in the win over the Panthers.
MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (12-14 overall, 7-8 HL) Saturday's 70-49 win over UIC featured four double-digit scorers. Milwaukee is now 9-2 on Saturdays, 9-0 when scoring at least 70 points and 8-0 when having at least four players reach double figures in scoring. Senior Markita Barnes tallied a career-best 10 points on Saturday to become the 11th Panther to score at least 10 points in a game this season. The Panthers held UIC to 25.8 percent field-goal shooting on Saturday -- the fifth-lowest opponent field goal percentage in team history.
UIC FLAMES (13-12 overall, 7-7 HL) Junior Jessie Miller became just the 14th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points on Saturday at Milwaukee. She is only the third UIC player to reach the milestone during her junior year, joining Joanne McCarthy and Penny Armstrong.
VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (14-11 overall, 8-6 HL) Senior Launa Hochstetler has scored 10+ points in six straight games and senior Agnieszka Kulaga has tallied double digits in five straight contests. Agnieszka Kulaga is now 16th in school history with 899 career points and senior Aimee Litka is now 18th with 886 career points. Valparaiso made 14 three-pointers on Tuesday against Chicago State, which ties for the third most in school history. Senior Leah Hochstetler drained seven trifectas en route to a career-high 23 points. Leah Hochstetler recorded her first career double-double -- 11 points and 11 assists -- against Chicago State.
WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (11-15 overall, 7-8 HL) Wright State snapped a five-game skid with a win on Saturday at Youngstown State. The Raiders were down a point one minute into the second half at Youngstown State, but put together a 13-0 run to take control. WSU shot 53 percent in the second half en route to 49 percent for the game. Wright State shot just 33 percent on Thursday at Cleveland State, compared to 46 percent for the Vikings.
YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (2-23 overall, 0-14 HL) Freshman Macey Nortey tallied a career-high 14 points and tied her career best with six assists on Saturday against Wright State. Freshman Camisha Alexander hit three more three-pointers last week, bringing her season total to 29. She is one of four freshmen in school history to make at least 25 treys, and she needs eight more this season to tie YSU's freshman record. Senior Kelsey Gurganus scored a season-high 15 points on Thursday vs. Detroit. She knocked down 5-for-9 from the floor.
