HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES

BUTLER BULLDOGS (19-8 overall, 12-4 HL)

  • Head Coach Beth Couture, who owns a 124-111 record in her eighth year at Butler, needs just one more victory to become the school's all-time leader.


  • Senior Melanie Thornton ranks in the Horizon League's top four for blocked shots (2nd, 1.8), scoring (2nd, 15.2), rebounding (3rd, 8.5) and steals (4th, 2.3). She has also reached the 10-point mark in 20 of her last 21 games.


  • Butler is one win from clinching its third straight 20-win season. The Bulldogs have not reached that plateau in three consecutive years since 1980-82.


  • Butler will host a quarterfinal home game on March 10 in the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.

    CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (15-12 overall, 10-6 HL)



  • Seniors Kailey Klein and Jessica Roque broke the Cleveland State record by playing in their 121st career games on Saturday against Wright State.


  • Kailey Klein needs just seven points to become the third player in Horizon League history to score 2,000 in a career.


  • Kailey Klein scored 32 points in Thursday's 70-60 overtime victory over Detroit. It was her school-record eighth career 30-point performance.


  • Senior Stephaine Crosley became the 16th player in school history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds for a career in the win over UDM.

    DETROIT TITANS (15-13 overall, 13-4 HL)



  • Detroit matched a season-best scoring total in Saturday's 80-62 victory over Youngstown State.


  • Senior Brigid Mulroy continues to lead the nation in three-point percentage (.509) after knocking down 7-of-19 from long distance last week. She has nailed at least one trifecta in 27 of 28 contests this season.


  • UDM has won 14 of its last 18 overall and nine of its last 10 at Calihan Hall.


  • Detroit will host a quarterfinal home game on March 10 in the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.

    GREEN BAY PHOENIX (24-3 overall, 13-3 HL)



  • Green Bay swept Valparaiso for a second consecutive season with Thursday's 69-44 victory and defeated Butler for a 28th straight time with Saturday's 61-54 win.


  • UWGB collected 78 points in the paint during the two-game road trip to Indiana.


  • The Phoenix has won 24 straight home games and 36 consecutive regular-season Horizon League home affairs.


  • Green Bay ranks among the NCAA leaders in assists (4th, 18.5), turnover margin (5th, 7.19), assist-to-turnover ratio (6th, 1.17), steals (8th, 11.8), field-goal percentage (8th, .464) and free-throw accuracy (10th, .763).


  • Green Bay will host a quarterfinal home game on March 10 in the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.

    LOYOLA RAMBLERS (14-13 overall, 8-8 HL)



  • After scoring just four points in 12 games on the season, freshman Abby Skube came off the bench to register 17 points in Saturday's 67-64 victory over UIC.


  • Senior Maggie McCloskey moved into eighth on Loyola's all-time scoring list (1,261) with 23 points against the Flames.


  • Senior Keisha Collins recorded her second double-double in February with 12 points and 11 assists vs. UIC. She became the first Rambler to have two games of 10+ assists in a season since 2004-05.


  • Junior Brittany Boeke also posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in Loyola's only tilt last week. It was the first time since Jan. 22, 2000, that two Ramblers tallied a double-double in the same contest.


  • Loyola can finish no worse than sixth and will avoid a first-round Speedway Horizon League Championship game for the first time since 2003-04.

    MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (10-17 overall, 5-11 HL)



  • Sophomore Danielle Jorgenson tallied a career-best 19 rebounds on Saturday at Valparaiso -- the most by a Panther since Feb. 9, 2008. She added 10 points in addition to career highs of five assists and five blocks.


  • Milwaukee connected on a three-pointer for the 236th straight game at Valparaiso.


  • Junior Anne Breland drilled a trio of three-pointers for the fifth time in 2009-10 on Saturday.

    UIC FLAMES (12-15 overall, 9-7 HL)



  • Senior Jessie Miller, who owns 1,421 career points, needs just five to become UIC's fifth all-time leading scorer.


  • With three steals on Saturday against Loyola, Jesse Miller moved up to fifth on UIC's all-time list with 192 career thefts.


  • Two freshmen -- Taylor Foulks (17 points) and Lauren Gatto (10 points) accounted for 42 percent of UIC's scoring against Loyola.


  • UIC will look to sweep Butler for the first time since 2006-07 on Thursday at the Pavilion. The Flames posted a 75-70 win at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Jan. 4.

    VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (8-19 overall, 5-11 HL)



  • Senior Whitney Farris has reached the 10-point plateau in four straight games for the first time in her career.


  • Five Cruasders tallied double figures in Saturday's 70-58 victory over Milwaukee.


  • Freshman Raegan Moore led the balanced attack with 16 points.


  • Valparaiso will finish .500 or better at home for the ninth straight year and the 19th time in the last 20 years.

    WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (10-17 overall, 6-11 HL)



  • Senior Kanisha Ward has played in 115 career games. She will break Wright State's all-time record in that category the next time she hits the hardwood.


  • Junior LaShawna Thomas needs just 14 points to reach 1,000 for her career.


  • Four individuals reached the 10-point plateau in Wright State's 57-38 victory over Youngstown State on Thursday. Sophomores Molly Fox and Maria Bennett combined for 22 points off the bench.

    YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (0-27 overall, 0-16 HL)



  • Brandi Brown became the first Youngstown State freshman to reach 300 points since the 1994-95 season. Brown has 313 points and needs to average 11 over the next three games to tie the school's freshman scoring record.


  • Brandi Brown continues to lead the Horizon League in rebounding and has a shot to become the third freshman in conference history to accomplish that feat.


  • Senior Kaitlyn March tied the YSU record with seven threes in her final game at the Beeghly Center on Saturday. She scored a career-high 21 points in the game.
