Monday night found UIC and Milwaukee both on the road against members of the Missouri Valley Conference. UIC fell to Illinois State, but the Panthers were victorious over Bradley, holding off the Braves for their second victory of the season.

Milwaukee 71, Bradley 67

Milwaukee won its second consecutive game Monday night as the Panthers went on the road to defeat Bradley, 71-67.

Preseason Second-Team Horizon League selection Angela Rodriguez had 13 points in the first half to help Milwaukee take a 34-27 lead.

In the second half, the Panthers extended their lead to double digits and then held on when Bradley went on a late run in the last five minutes.

Rodriguez finished with a team-high 21 points, knocking down three three-pointers while also shooting 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Junior Sami Tucker had a double-double with 17 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. Sophomore Courtney Lindfors had 13 points and sophomore Emily Decorah had 10 points to round out the scoring leaders for Milwaukee.

The Panthers will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday when they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to face Western Michigan.

Illinois State 77, UIC 56

The Flames could never get on track Monday night against the Redbirds, falling for only the second time this season.

UIC had a 24-21 lead late in the first half, but Illinois State went on a 16-2 run to end the half and the Flames could never cut the lead from double digits in the second half.

Senior Kiara Strickland led the Flames with a career-high 17 points while also pulling down seven rebounds. Senior Jasmine Bailey, who entered the game leading the conference in points (25.2) and rebounds (11.4), finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Junior Taylor Foulks was the only other Flame in double figures with 11.

UIC is next in action on Friday when it hosts Indiana State.
