INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Milwaukee senior setter Leanne Felsing was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Cleveland State's Jenni Ramminger took home Defensive Player of the Week honors in the first week of Horizon League Volleyball action.

Leanne Felsing
Milwaukee
Sr., Setter, Hartland, Wis.
Setter Leanne Felsing began her senior season on a positive note as she guided Milwaukee to two wins over the weekend while competing in the InnTowner Invitational in Madison, Wis. During the weekend tournament, the Wisconsin native recorded two triple-doubles en route to being named to the all-tournament team. Her first triple-double came against Syracuse as she collected 17 kills 22 digs and 32 assists in a 3-2 win. In the following match, Felsing tallied 18 kills, 10 digs and 11 assists in a three-game triumph over Gardner-Webb. In her career she has nine career triple-doubles, which is the most in UWM history. For the week, Felsing hit .320 with 43 kills, 103 assists and 39 digs.

Jenni Ramminger
Cleveland State
Jr., Middle Hitter, Cincinnati, Ohio
Junior Jenni Ramminger did a little bit of everything over the weekend as she guided Cleveland State to a 3-1 mark, which included wins over Bradley (3-0), IUPUI (3-0) and Toledo (3-0) at the Toledo Invitational in Toledo, Ohio. For the week, Ramminger hit .345 and recorded 18 blocks (2 solo, 16 assists), 12 digs and 38 kills as she was named to the all-tournament team. The middle hitter from Cincinnati, Ohio, is now in eighth place on the all-time blocks list at CSU (244).

Becky Peters
Milwaukee
Jr., Libero, Germantown, Wis.
Junior Becky Peters was once again stellar in the back row for the Panthers, as Milwaukee went 2-1 at the InnTowner Invitational. Peters collected 20 digs in a five-game win over Syracuse and then added 20 more digs in a three-game win versus Gardner-Webb. She surpassed 1,000 digs in her career during the Syracuse match, becoming just the sixth Panther in the school's Division I history to record more than 1,000 digs. She has also reached double figures in digs in 27 of her last 28 outings and 59 times in 62 career matches.

Brittany Malicoat
Valparaiso
Jr., Libero, Elkhart, Ind.
Junior Brittany Malicoat guided the Crusaders to a 3-1 win over Miami (Ohio) as she collected a match-high 19 digs. In the following game against Illinois State, Malicoat again was impressive as she recorded a match-high 22 digs. The Indiana native has paced Valpo in digs in 44 straight matches dating back to Nov. 4, 2005. In addition, she also has registered at least 10 digs in 20 consecutive matches and is just 11 digs shy of 1,000 for her career.

Jessica Fraley
Youngstown State
Sr., Right Side, LaGrange, Ohio
Senior Jessica Fraley led the Penguins to a 4-0 record last week and was named to the all-tournament team of the Temple Tournament. She averaged 3.19 kills per game, 1.44 digs per game and 0.81 blocks per game while hitting at a .273 clip.

Porshia Allen
Butler
So., Outside Hitter, Indianapolis, Ind.
Sophomore Porshia Allen put together one of the most staggering offensive performances of the Orange and Green Challenge last weekend as she hit .291 in three matches and averaged 3.73 kills per game. The highlight of her tournament came in the opening match on Saturday (Aug. 25) against Hofstra, where she shattered her career-high for kills with 26 (previous mark was 21) at an astounding .444 attack percentage (26-2-54). She added 13 kills just a few hours later in the final match of the tournament against host Miami (Fla.). Allen also finished as the lone Bulldog on the all-tournament team.

Sarah Singer
Loyola
Jr., Outside Hitter, Waukesha, Wis.
Junior Sarah Singer had a productive weekend in her first weekend as a Rambler, knocking down 18 kills as the Ramblers finished third at the Chicago Challenge at Northwestern. Singer, who led the team in kills in both matches, powered down 11 kills in a three-game sweep of DePaul after collecting seven put-aways in the season-opening loss to Northwestern.

Lindsey Frank
Wright State
Sr., Setter, Menoonee Falls, Wis.
Senior Lindsey Frank hit at a .273 clip this past weekend, while competing in the UNI Invitational. In addition, Frank tallied 10 kills, 33 assists and 17 digs over the three matches to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. In the final match of the tournament, Frank recorded a double-double against Western Michigan (16 assists and 11 digs).

Betty Slinger
Green Bay
Sr., Setter, Fairbault, Minn.
Senior Betty Slinger led Green Bay with a team-best .342 attacking percentage as her 32 kills was third best on the team. Slinger notched a triple-double against eventual Super 8 Chippewa Classic champion Central Michigan with 31 assists, 10 kills and 12 digs. She also added an impressive six block assists against Central Michigan.

Jordan Bateman
Cleveland State
Jr., Libero, Nelsonville, Ohio
Junior Jordan Bateman was stellar in the backrow as CSU posted a 3-1 record at the Toledo Invitational over the weekend. In the season opener, a 3-0 win over Bradley, Bateman produced 24 digs. She came back in a 3-0 sweep of IUPUI on Friday night and finished with a match-best 21 digs. She then added 24 more digs in a five set loss to Xavier before ending the tournament with 14 digs in a sweep of Toledo. For the week, Bateman averaged 5.93 digs per game.

Katerina Hanackova
UIC
So., Outside Hitter, Prevov, Czech Republic
Sophomore Katerina Hanackova totaled a team-high 16 digs and recorded three blocks in UIC's opening weekend of the 2007 Chicagoland Challenge. In two matches, the outside hitter also totaled 24 kills and two service aces. In a 3-1 victory over DePaul on Aug, 24, Hanackova ranked second on the squad with 16 kills and was only two digs shy of a double-double with eight on the night. The sophomore also tabbed one service aces and three blocks. Hanackova then led the Flames against Northwestern in the title match of the tournament with eight kills. The outside hitter ranked second on the team with eight digs and recorded a service ace in the match.

Youngstown State
Youngstown State's 4-0 record is in the program's best start since 1981 and just the second time in school history in that Youngstown State has started the season 4-0 (1981).

Sophomore Ruth Boscaljon reached the 400 kills milestone with 47 kills last weekend. She now has 410 career kills in just 36 matches played. Junior setter Karla Everhart became the seventh player in school history to reach 1,300 career assists. Everhart ranks seventh all-time with 1,309 career assists and needs 81 more to move into sixth place.

Cleveland State
Sophomore Alexis Korovich and junior Jenni Ramminger were both named to the Toledo Invitational All-Tournament Team during the weekend. It was the first time Ramminger has been named to an all-tournament team in her career.

Senior Mel Snyder tallied four service aces over the weekend and moved into 10th place on the all-time list at CSU (107). In addition, she dished out 170 assists (12.14 apg).

Freshman Amy Benz enjoyed a phenomenal opening weekend. The Tiffin, Ohio, native hit a team-best .424 (36-8-66) at the Toledo Invitational and led the squad with 19 blocks.

Milwaukee
Leanne Felsing and Jamie Gabrielsen were each named to the InnTowner Invitational All-Tournament team after helping the Panthers to a 2-1 finish. Felsing recorded a pair of triple-doubles while Gabrielsen had an amazing 31-kill, 20-dig outing against Syracuse.

UWM's season-opening starting lineup included three seniors, but also included a pair of freshmen. Seniors Leanne Felsing, Jamie Gabrielsen and Kelley Olson were joined by junior Becky Peters, sophomore Kellye Zaporski and freshmen Maddie Sueppel and Natalie Schmitting. It marked the first time UWM had a pair of freshmen in the starting lineup on opening day since 2004, when Felsing (outside hitter) and Gabrielsen (libero) were on the floor at the start of the season opener with North Dakota State.

The Panthers had 114 digs against Syracuse, which is the most since tallying 115 against Green Bay in the League tournament title match in 2003.The win over Syracuse was the first in the UWM head coaching career of Susie Johnson.

UIC
UIC exploded in its season opener on Saturday in a matchup against DePaul in the Chicagoland Challenge hosted by Northwestern. The Flames topped the Blue Demons in four games, totaling 53 kills 62 digs, six service aces and 16 total blocks.

After advancing to the title match, the Flames fell to Northwestern, 3-0, to move their overall record to 1-1 on the season.

Sophomore Casie Sullivan and Katerina Hanackova each totaled a team-best 24 kills and 16 digs. Junior Christin Hunt led the squad at the net with nine blocks in seven games and posted a team-high .242 attack percentage.

Freshman setter Dana Van Syckle jumped right into her starting role and totaled 69 assists, 17 digs and one block assist.

Loyola
Loyola's offense was clicking in the win over DePaul as the Ramblers hit .278 as a team. The mark was just short of the .290 LU hit against the Blue Demons last year, Loyola's top single-match performance of the 2006 season.

Freshman Mallory Curran was named to the Chicago Challenge All-Tournament Team, largely on the heels of a strong performance against DePaul. The Milwaukee native slammed eight kills (8-1-17, .412) to go with a pair of aces and four blocks assists in the sweep.

Valparaiso
Valpo started 2007 just like it ended 2006, with a four-game victory over Miami (Ohio). Nicole Schulz led the way for the Crusaders as she hit .500 with 17 kills in Valpo's season-opening win. It is the seventh time in her career Schulz has hit .500 or better in a match with at least 15 attacks.

Head coach Carin Avery will set a program record for matches coached when the Crusaders take on Buffalo Friday night. It will be Avery's 172nd match at Valpo, which surpasses the mark previously held by Cindy Harris.

Butler
Freshman Jessica Wolfe was one of the top offensive performers for the Bulldogs over this past weekend. In just her first collegiate match, she registered a team-high 18 kills against Jacksonville. In the finale against Miami, she again led the team with 14 kills while adding 12 digs for yet another double-double. She finished the weekend with a team-high 50 kills.

Junior Nina Inic, the Bulldogs' most consistent defensive performer in 2006, continued that trend with yet another solid weekend in the back row. She opened the Orange and Green Challenge with a match-high 30 digs before leading the team with 19 against Hofstra and 20 against Miami. She leads the team with 5.31 digs per game

Green Bay
Liesl Tesch had a strong showing in her first action since redshirting the 2006 season. Tesch, a junior outside hitter, was second on the team with 38 kills in three matches while adding 19 digs.

Also making a strong debut was sophomore Nikki Hintze, who had a .203 attacking percentage in her first weekend in a Green Bay uniform.

Wright State
It was a tough opening weekend for Wright State as the Raiders were swept in all three matches at the UNI Invitational, including setbacks to Kentucky and Northern Iowa, two teams that both received votes in last week's CSTV/AVCA Division I Top 25 poll.

Senior setter Lindsey Frank was named to the UNI Invitational All-Tournament Team as she hit .273 with 10 kills and added 17 digs in the three matches. She posted a double-double of 16 assists and 11 digs against Western Michigan and also hit .500 with six kills against the Broncos.
