TUCSON, Ariz.-Salim Stoudamire scored 24 points and #10/11 Arizona shot 56 percent from the field, including 61 in the first half, as the Wildcats defeated Wright State 83-66 Thursday in the second round of the Preseason National Invitation Tournament.


Stoudamire hit 6-of-9 three-pointers for the game and Arizona made 12 straight shots in the first half to lead 42-21 at halftime. After the Wildcats (2-0) went up 59-25 early in the second half, the Raiders' Zakee Boyd connected on four consecutive three-pointers as part of a 25-6 Wright State run that cut the lead to 65-50. Boyd finished with a team-high 24 points in his first action of the season.


DaShaun Wood added 18 points, including 16 in the second half, for the Raiders (1-1), who Tuesday had become the first Horizon League team to win a Preseason NIT game since 1988. Everett Spencer pulled down a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.
