CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - For the second time in two seasons, Wright State has knocked off the nation's top collegiate baseball team. The Raiders posted a 2-1 victory over the Virginia on Friday in front of 1,740 at Davenport Field.

The Cavaliers scored what turned out to be their only run in the first as Phil Gosselin led off with a double and came home on a Steven Proscia single.

Wright State tied it with a run in the third. Gerald Ogrinc reached on a throwing error and went to second on a sacrifice bunt from Cameron Fagg. One out later, Jake Hibberd delivered a single up the middle to plate Ogrinc. The Raiders later loaded the bases, but a strike out kept the game tied.

The Raiders scored the winning run in the sixth. Tristan Moore started the frame with a hit to right center and moved up to second when Quentin Cate singled through the left side. A fielder's choice put runners on the corners and a suicide squeeze bunt from Garrett Gray drove in Moore with the go-ahead run.

WSU started Alex Kaminsky (1-1) went the first seven innings, scattering seven hits and a walk in giving up one run with seven strikeouts. Greg Robinson earned the save, allowing just one hit in two innings with four strikeouts. It was Robinson's first save of the season and first since May 23, 2008.

Offensively, Moore led the Raider attack with three hits.

Virginia (6-2) was the top-ranked team in the Baseball America and Rivals.com polls for the last two weeks. It was the second time in two seasons that the Raiders have knocked off the #1-ranked team on its home field, having accomplished the feat on March 24, 2009, with an 8-5 win at Georgia.

Wright State (3-5) will play Dartmouth on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET before a re-match against Virginia on Sunday at 3 p.m.
