Wright State swimmers garner weekly laurels

INDIANAPOLIS - Wright State sophomore Hermanus Botha has been named the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week while Raider sophomore Molley Pipkorn has claimed Women’s Swimmer of the Week laurels for the period of Dec. 7-Dec. 13.  

 
Botha racked up four event wins this past weekend in a dual-meet victory against Tampa.  His 100- and 200-yard freestyle times of 47.30 and 1:44.73, respectively, kept him perfect in both races during dual meet action this season.  Botha recorded WSU’s second-best 200 individual medley mark of 1:58.16 while also taking place on the winning 200 freestyle relay squad which posted a 1:26.05.
 
Pipkorn remains undefeated in all freestyle races this season as she took home gold in three individual races and one relay in a dual-meet victory at Tampa this past weekend.  Her times of 53.43 (100 free), 1:55.44 (200 free), 5:04.56 (500 free) and 1:40.66 (200 free relay) all rank as top-10 times for WSU all-time.
 
Botha is honored with his second career Swimmer of the Week award while Pipkorn takes home the third weekly accolade of her career and second of the season.
