CHICAGO- No. 7 Wright State upset No. 2 Cleveland State in five games to advance to the championship match of the 2005 Horizon League tournament.

All-Horizon League selection Sarah Poling led four Raiders in double-figures with 15 kills. Tara Geegan tallied 13 kills, while Lisa Griffith and Alisha Kimbro added 11 and 10 respectivevly.

Horizon League Player of the Year Nickole Kennedy recorded a match-high 23 kills, and Alisa Hatcher notched 31 digs for Cleveland State.

After battling back from two games down in Friday's quarterfinal match against UW-Green Bay, Wright State jumped out of the gate quickly, using a 17-12 kill advantage to take game one from the Vikings, 30-22. The Raiders couldn't hang on to the momentum, however, as Cleveland State snatched a close game two, 31-29. A kill by Alisha Kimbro gave Wright State a 30-27 win in game three, but the Vikings dominated game four, outhitting the Raiders .514 to 0.079 to win by a score of 30-18.

The two teams traded points in the deciding game five until a block by Lizzy Gunn and Lindsey Frank, followed by an attack error from Jenna Maddocks, gave the Raiders a 16-14 win.

With the win, Wright State (12-19) advances to its first ever Horizon League championship match. The Raiders will face Loyola on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. CT.

With the loss, Cleveland State ends the season at 19-10.

The 2005 Horizon League Volleyball Championship will be held Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 17-20, at the Flames Center on the campus of University of Illinois at Chicago. The match will air live on Comcast Sports Net Chicago, Comcast Indianapolis and the Ohio News Network. WMLW-Milwaukee will tape delay the broadcast until 5 p.m. ET. The winner of Sunday's championship match will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
