INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State senior Kim Demmings (Richmond, Ind.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Northern Kentucky’s Molly Glick (Fostoria, Ohio) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Nov. 16-22.
Wright State continues it strong start to the season with three victories this past week over Kent State, Lipscomb and Austin Peay. The Raiders went on the road to defeat the Golden Flashes 73-68 after a late 16-4 surge in the final 3:28 that lifted the team to victory on Tuesday. In the squad’s home opener over Lipscomb, Wright State saw four players score in double digits en route to the 92-65 win. To cap-off the week, the Raiders defeated Austin Peay 77-56 at the Nutter Center after outscoring the Govs 46-27 in the second half.
Demmings week was highlighted at the Lipscomb game where she became Wright State’s all-time leading scorer with her 27 point performance in addition to grabbing 10 rebounds to tab the double-double. Facing Kent State, Demmings dropped her first double-double of the week with 26 points, 14 rebounds while adding six assists. The senior closed out her impressive seven days by tabbing 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists versus Austin Peay. Demmings averaged 25.7 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.3 spg over the three games for the Raiders. She is now 259 points away from breaking the Horizon League all-time scoring record (2,340 points) which is currently held by Traci Edwards (Milwaukee, 2005-09).
Northern Kentucky faced tough competition this week on the road against Cincinnati and at home facing Marquette. The Norse fell to the Bearcats in a close battle across the Ohio River, 71-68 but bounced back a few days later when facing Marquette to pick-up the 83-78 victory. In the contest, senior Christine Roush became the 29th player in Northern Kentucky women’s basketball history to reach 1,000 points in her career.
Glick posted two strong performances for the Norse over the week and recorded 9.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg and 1.0 spg averages. The freshman posted her second consecutive double-digit outing with 11 points against Cincinnati while shooting .364 percent (8-for-22) from the field in the two games. In addition, six of Glick’s eight rebounds were on the offensive glass to slot her 10th in the Horizon League in offensive rebounds.
Wright State hosts Southeastern Louisiana tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET and then will go on to participate in the Lone Star Classic and kick-off with Iowa on Thursday at Noon in Cedar Park, Texas. Northern Kentucky is back in action on Friday against Tennessee Tech at home for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off and will take the road to face Robert Morris on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Tesha Buck, Green Bay (Jr., G): Scored a game-high 16 points over Vanderbilt to mark her second-straight game in double figures for the Phoenix.
Ruvanna Campbell, UIC (Sr., F): Posted her third-straight double-double with 23 points and 17 rebounds at Purdue. Averaged 17.0 ppg and 14.5 rpg for the Flames this week.
Sarah Cash, Youngstown State (So., F): Averaged 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds to lead Youngstown State over Niagara and Radford this week. Posted a career-high nine rebounds in the 71-54 win at Niagara.
Jenny Lindner, Milwaukee (So., G): Tied her career-high of 25 points against UMKC while adding 10 rebounds to tab the double-double. Was 10-for-12 from the field (.833) to mark the third-best in a game in Milwaukee history.
Christine Roush, Northern Kentucky (Sr., G): Led Northern Kentucky in scoring in both contests with week while becoming the 29th player in NKU women’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points. Currently ranks third in the Horizon League in scoring.
Sinclair Russell, Oakland (Jr., F): Recorded a double-double scoring a career-high 17 points and a team-high 12 rebounds against Niagara. Went 7-for-11 from the field and dished out five assists with one block and one steal.
Brooke Smith, Cleveland State (Jr., G): Notched back-to-back double-digit scoring performances with 14 points against Evansville and 12 points over Belmont. In addition, recorded a career-high six steals versus Belmont.

Ashanti Abshaw, Cleveland State (F): Tallied first double-double of her career with 14 points and 11 rebounds against Evansville and also recorded a career-high of 15 points against Belmont.
Alison Smolinski, Youngstown State (G): Made four triples and scored a game-high 16 points in win at Niagara while also scoring six points and grabbing two rebounds over Radford.
Mackenzie Taylor, Wright State (G): Scored 18 points and had four assists versus Lipscomb and nine points on three triples facing Austin Peay.
