INDIANAPOLIS –Wright State junior Hanna Floyd (Minster, Ohio) is the Horizon League softball Player of the Week while freshman teammate Ashley Sharp (West Chester, Ohio) is the Horizon League softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 6-12.

The Wright State softball team competed in four games this past week. The Raiders hosted Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday and won 6-3 in the team’s only mid-week contest. Wright State then took the road to face Green Bay for a three-game series against the Phoenix with a single game Friday and doubleheader on Saturday. The Raiders won the first game of the weekend on Friday 8-3 over Green Bay but fell the first game on Saturday 7-4. The squad then bounced back the final contest to capture a 15-2 victory.

Floyd led the Raiders at the plate going 8-for-11 over the four contests to tab a .727 batting average. The junior posted a 1.364 slugging percentage and an .800 on-base percentage. Floyd went 2-for-2 with a RBI against Miami. In the series versus Green Bay, she went 2-for-4 in the opening contest with five RBI. During the Saturday doubleheader Floyd was 2-for-3 in the first game and 2-for-2 in the second with a three-run home run and three runs scored. For the week, she collected nine RBI, three runs, two doubles, a triple, home run and four walks.

Sharp led Wright State in the circle with two wins in two appearances throughout the week. The freshman only allowed one run in four innings in the win over Miami while striking out two batters. Sharp pitched a complete game at Green Bay, allowing two runs and fanning three hitters. For the week, she posted a 1.91 earned-run average in 11.0 innings pitched with five strike outs.

Wright State takes on Morehead State in a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 2:00 p.m. ET. The team then hosts Detroit over the weekend for a three-game conference series.

Top Players of the Week:
Jorgi Calombaris, Valparaiso (So.): Posted four multi-hit games over the week with a two-hit performance in all three games versus UIC. In the series opener, went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a triple in addition to a career-high five RBIs in the win over UIC in the series finale.
Sarah Dowd, Youngstown State (So.): Hit for a .417 batting average over the week while going 5-for-12 at the plate with a pair of home runs and four RBIs.
Sarah Hartley, Oakland (Jr.): Went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, RBI double and a run scored in game two against Detroit while going 3-for-5 in the series finale with a home run, triple and single.
Laura Swan, UIC (Jr.): Hit three doubles in the series against Green Bay with two in one game. Notched a season-high three RBI and tallied the game-winning RBI in game one.
Cynthia Woodard, Cleveland State (Sr.): Totaled three runs, two doubles, three homers and five RBI with a 1.545 slugging percentage in the series against Youngstown State. Also hit a home run in each of the three contests against the Penguins.

Top Pitchers of the Week:
Elaine Heflin, UIC (So.): Posted two complete-game wins with one against Green Bay and one against Valparaiso. Also garnered two saves to double her career total.
Kaley Waalkes, Oakland (So.): Pitched a complete game going 5.0 innings with a strikeout in game two of the series against Detroit.
