INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State junior Kacia Grant (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Milwaukee senior Dexter Schleis (Germantown, Wis.) have named Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Runners of the Week while UIC freshman Ariel Gibbs (Pembroke Township, Ill.) and freshman Nate Pozolinski (Kimberly, Wis.) have been named Horizon League Athletes of the Week for the period of Apr. 1-7.

Grant registered two top two finishes at the Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational. In the 200-meter dash, the junior sprinted to a time of 25.27 which bested a field of 22 competitors. Her time is good for third best in the League this season. In the 100-meter dash, she placed second with a time of 12.33. Grant was also a part of the 4x100 relay team that finished third.

Schleis posted the fastest 200-meter dash time in the League this season at the Marquette Duals. His time of 21.63 was also good for first-place, and is nearly .45 seconds better than the second fastest time in the League. Milwaukee posted a perfect, 3-0 record in duals competition.

Competing in the long jump, Gibbs placed first out of 16 competitors at the Ted Haydon Invitational. Her mark of 5.51 meters was a personal best and ranks as the second best jump in the League this season. Gibbs was also a part of the winning 4x400 relay team.

Despite freezing temperatures and gusty winds, Pozolinski posted a personal best and League best mark in the long jump at the Marquette Duals. His jump of 6.76 meters was good for second-place.

Milwaukee is in action April 10-11 at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational. UIC competes next at the Chicagoland Championships April 11 while Wright State takes part in the All-Ohio Championships April 11-12.

Other Top Athletes of the Week (Apr. 1-7):
Jay Jakovina, Youngstown State (So., Austintown, Ohio)
- For the second week in-a-row, Jakovina took first-place in the high jump. This week, his jump of 2.05 meters was good for first-place at the Northeast Ohio Quad.
Elijah Owen, Valparaiso (So., LaPorte, Ind.) - Placed third out of 40 competitors in the javelin at the DePauw Invitational. His mark of 52.90 meters is good for second all-time in Valparaiso school history.
Eric Lewis, Detroit (Sr., Eastpointe, Mich.) - Registered the second best throw in the League this season in the hammer throw at the Detroit vs. Oakland Dual. His mark of 58.20 meters was good for first-place. Lewis also took first in the discus with a toss of 43.32 meters.
Christian Saporiti, UIC (Fr., Rockford, Ill.) - Took home top honors in the shot put at the Ted Haydon Invitational with a toss of 14.05 meters. Also took seventh-place in the discus with a throw of 36.65 meters.
Ashley Jemison, Oakland (So., Woodland, Mich.) - Broke the Oakland school record in the shot put at the Oakland vs. Detroit Dual with a mark of 37.39 meters.
Allyson Koglin, Detroit (Sr., Port Hope, Mich.) - Had two top two finishes at the Detroit vs. Oakland Dual, including a first-place finish in the hammer throw (47.75 meters).
Jennifer Nedier, Youngstown State (So., Hermitage, Pa.) - Placed fourth and eighth in the shot put (13.82 meters) and hammer throw (45.41 meters), respectively, at the Northeast Ohio Quad. Both marks rank in the top five in the League this season.
Jazmin Taylor, Valparaiso (Jr., Rock Island, Ill.) - Placed third out of nine competitors in the high jump at the Stanford Invitational with a mark of 1.60 meters.

Charles Anthony, Detroit (Sr., Northville, Mich.)
- Captured a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.19) and a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.08) at the Oakland vs. Detroit Dual.
Dalyn Gattison, Youngstown State (So., Warren, Ohio) - At the Northeast Ohio Quad, placed fourth and fifth in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 10.78 and 22.28, respectively.
Kyle Hauser, UIC (Fr., Palos Heights, Ill.) - At the Ted Haydon Invitational, took first-place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:07.81.
Imani Dixon, UIC (Fr., Santa Carlita, Calif.) - Registered a time of 26.15 in the 200-meter dash at the Ted Haydon Invitational to finish first.
Brandee Hart, Detroit (Sr., Oak Park, Mich.) - Was a double-winner in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash at the Detroit vs. Oakland Dual. Set a meet record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.78.
Jen Shiley, Youngstown State (So., Austintown, Ohio) - Placed second in the 400-meter hurdles at the Northeast Ohio Quad with a time of 1:05.
Nicole Zehel, Valparaiso (Sr., Wixom, Mich.) - Registered a personal best time and League best time in the steeplechase at the DePauw Invitational. Her time of 11:13.73 was good for second-place.
