INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State senior Kieston Greene and his teammate junior Andrew Elliott have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of April 21-27.

Greene picked up Batter of the Week accolades after leading all Horizon League batters in batting average and on-base percentage last week and recording the third highest slugging percentage in the League. Greene hit .500 (7-of-14) and had an on-base percentage of .579 while slugging .714 for the Raiders as WSU won all four of its contests.

The WSU senior got things rolling for the Raiders on Wednesday as he doubled in the seventh inning and later scored the Raiders first run of the game as Wright State came from behind to win at Akron, 3-1. In the Raiders sweep of Oakland this past weekend, Greene went 6-of-10 at the plate, drove in six runs and scored five more. On Saturday in WSU’s series-clinching win, the outfielder went 5-for-6 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored.

Elliott earned Pitcher of the Week honors after recording three saves last week for the Raiders. He picked up his first save of the week as he struck out one to close out Wright State’s 3-1 win at Akron on Wednesday. In the Horizon League series at Oakland, Elliott made two more appearances and delivered both times. On Friday, he entered the game with WSU holding an 8-6 lead and closed out the ninth to seal the win. On Saturday, he came into the game in the bottom of the 9th with two outs, but Oakland had the bases loaded and the winning run at the plate. Elliott induced a flyout to end the game and pick up his third save in three games.

The Wheelersburg, Ohio native leads the Horizon League with 11 saves on the season and has a 0.38 ERA in 24.0 innings of work. He has struck out 31 batters and allowed just 13 hits.

Wright State (25-16, 18-2) has won 10 consecutive games and looks to continue its streak this week as it hosts Xavier and Akron in non-conference tilts on Tuesday and Wednesday before resuming League play this coming weekend versus Youngstown State.
