INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State outfielder Kieston Greene (Decatur, Ill.) has been named the Horizon League baseball Player of the Week while Milwaukee senior Jake Long (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
It is the first award of the season for either player.
Greene led Wright State to a 2-2 week, including a 25-0 blowout win over Wilmington. He went 3-for-3 in that game with two home runs, a double, three RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base.
The junior batted .500 (7-for-14) on the week while slugging 1.214 and posting a hefty .611 on-base percentage, drawing four walks and striking out just once. He scored six runs while driving in seven and was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.
Greene went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored a pair of runs in a 9-3 win over Milwaukee and was 2-for-4 with two RBI in the season finale.
The Raiders host Cincinnati on Tuesday and Toledo on Wednesday before a three-game series against defending Horizon League champions Valparaiso over the weekend.
While Greene hit well against Milwaukee in the series' second and third games, Long kept all of the Raiders off balance while twirling a gem in the opener. The senior righty allowed just one earned run while tossing a complete-game four-hitter and picking up the win. It was the first complete game of Long's career and the first tossed by a Panther since May 2011.
Long posted a .138 batting average against in the contest and didn't allow any extra-base hits, and he worked around four walks while recording three strikeouts. From the fourth inning to the middle of the eighth, Long retired 13 straight Raiders batters.
Milwaukee is off until Friday, when the Panthers begin a three-game weekend series at UIC.
