Cary, N.C. - USA Baseball announced its 22-man roster on Monday evening and Jeremy Hamilton will be among the nations elite freshman and sophomores that will represent our Nation during the upcoming summer.

Hamilton, who helped the Raiders to back-to-back 30-win seasons during his first two years at WSU, will be a part of the 22-man national team roster during the upcoming summer tours. The sophomore helped lead the Raiders to the NCAA Tournament as a freshman and invited to tryout with the National Team last week. He was a First Team All-Horizon League selection this season and was one of three players kept after the National Teams goodwill trip thought the NECBL.

"Jeremy made the most of his opportunity during his time with the team and showed why he is a solid baseball player," head coach Rob Cooper said. "We are extremely proud of what he has accomplished and are excited to see what he can do against the national competition. He has embraced the chance to represent his country with the USA National Team and will now get to display his talents against some of the world's best players."

Hamilton was one of 36 freshman or sophomores invited to tryout for the National Team and in six games, three of those starts, he posted a .308 batting average. He saw time as the designated hitter, left field, center fielder and first baseman and was one of only seven player to post an average of over .300. He drove in an RBI, walked twice and scored two runs in his time with the team.

Hamilton was one of 14 non-roster invitees to be invited to the tryout and made the most of his chance. He was one of only three players kept after having a stellar week and the plate and in the field.

"It's an honor to even be considered for a spot on the National Team,"Hamilton said. "To have the chance to wear a uniform with the USA logo on it is incredible and I know I will have to give my all every time out on the field. I thank everyone involved for giving me the opportunity to make this team and I will play my heart our for my country and all of our fans."

In 2007, Hamilton compiled stellar statistics at the plate and in the field, on his way to all-league accolades. The sophomore drove in 62 runs, the fifth-most in a single season at WSU, scored 49 runs and batted .374. He played in 56 games, collecting 84 hits, 22 doubles, six triples and nine home runs. At first base, Hamilton compiled a single-season record 529 putouts, breaking his own record of 518 from 2006, and committed only seven errors all season.

In his career, Hamilton owns a .332 batting average with 136 hits, 55 of those for extra bases, and has driven in 93 RBI's. His 1047 total assists put him only 155 assists shy of the career record held by Brian Bautsch (1996-99). He is the seventh player in WSU history to drive in 60 or more runs in a single season.

Hamilton joined former Raider Brian Anderson as the only other player from WSU to be invited to tryout for the USA National Team. The sophomore was one of only three non-roster invitees to make the squad and is the first Raider to ever have the chance to don the Red, White and Blue. Hamilton joins Cooper on the National Team, with Cooper acting as an assistant coach on the team this year.
