INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State senior Maria Harrison (Tory, Ohio) and Oakland sophomore C.J. Gozdor (Clarkston, Mich.) have been named Horizon League Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 3-9.

Harrison put on a strong display in the field events at the Purple & White Invitational. The senior took first in both the shot put and weight throw. Her weight throw of 16.22m smashed the previous school record of 15.76m. In the shot put, Harrison registered a throw of 12.14m, besting a field of 12 participants.

On the men’s side, Gozdor put on an impressive display in the high jump at the Mastodon Opener. The sophomore registered a jump of 2.05m, good for an event victory and the second best mark in school history. The Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships event record is 2.06m.

Oakland competes on Dec. 13 at the Macomb CC Tri Meet while Wright State returns to action Jan. 10 at the Buckeye Classic.

Other Top Athletes of the Week.
Jay Jakovina, Youngstown State (So., Austintown, Ohio) - Registered a first-place showing in the high jump (2.04m) and a seventh-place finish in the long jump (6.59m).
Katelynee Hartman, Oakland (Sr., Fishers, Ind.) - Turned in a throw of 12.43m to place fourth in the shot put at the Eastern Michigan Holiday Meet.
Chenera Lacy, Youngstown State (Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) - Tied the WATTS indoor track record in the high jump with a jump of 1.71m to place first out of 29 competitors. Also placed third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06.
