DAYTON, Ohio -- Former Wright State standout Jesse Hutchins will tee off at 9:12 a.m. ET on Thursday in the first round of the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club. Friday will see Hutchins start at hole No. 10 at 2:52 p.m.

The 2003 Horizon League Men's Golfer of the Year, Hutchins led the Raiders to the 2003 NCAA Tournament and took medalist honors at the 2002 Horizon League Championship. Hutchins has spent the majority of his time on the Hooters Tour, gaining his card for the Nationwide Tour in 2010.

A qualifyer for the U.S. Open, Hutchins shot a 67 to win the local qualifier at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., to reach sectional qualifying at Springfield Country Club. With two U.S. Open spots on the line, Hutchins had to win a playoff just to reach America's golf championship.

Opening with a 71 in the first round, Hutchins blistered the course the next day, posting a 64 to reach the playoff with the University of Illinois' Luke Guthrie. Hutchins birdied the first hole to qualify for his first major.
