INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State junior Michal Lyzwa (Johannesburg, South Africa) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week in men's tennis.
In the Raiders' season-opening match at #25 Michigan State, Lyzwa picked up a win at #5 singles 7-6, 4-6, 10-8. He then partnered with Lauri Makikalli at #2 doubles and won 8-6.
Wright State lost the match, but led by Lyzwa's two wins the Raiders were able to force the 25th-ranked team in the nation to a 4-3 score. For WSU, Dan Hyman won at #6 singles 7-6, 6-3. Evan Neuman and Ricardo Pineda took #3 doubles 8-5.
The Raiders will return to action on Saturday in their home opener against Duquesne. The meet is scheduled for a 4 p.m. EST start.
