DAYTON, Ohio -- Wright State University Deputy Director of Athletics Roderick Perry has been appointed to the prestigious NCAA Legislative Council, the NCAA announced Thursday.

This July, Perry will be starting a four-year term on the Legislative Council, which is the primary legislative body in the NCAA Division I governance structure, subject to Board of Directors oversight. The Legislative Council is responsible for considering every proposal in the annual legislative cycle with the caveat that the Board can examine and act on any proposal it so chooses. The Legislative Council's actions on legislation will not be considered final until the conclusion of the following Board meeting to ensure the Board has an opportunity for final review and oversight.

"I am excited to be selected for such an important committee within the NCAA governance structure," Perry said.  "The Legislative Council plays an integral part in influencing changes to NCAA legislation, and it is a great honor to serve in this role."

In his WSU role, Perry plays a lead role in athletic department strategic and financial planning and oversees numerous areas, including academic advising, media relations, compliance, strength and conditioning and athletic training, as well as several sports and the general administration for the day-to-day activities of the department. He serves on numerous committees, including the Athletic Council, the WSU Judicial Affairs Panel, Fairborn YMCA Board of Directors as well as chair of the NCAA Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee.

A native of Auburn, Alabama, Perry graduated from Auburn University in 1995 with a degree in Sports Administration. He also earned a master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Auburn in 1998.
