INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State junior midfielder Brittany Persaud (Westerville, Ohio) has been named Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Oct. 18.
Persaud helped Wright State vault from sixth in the Horizon League standings entering the week to fourth by the week’s end, tallying a goal and three assists as the Raiders claimed the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Tournament.
On Friday, Persaud sandwiched her sixth goal of the season in between two assists as Wright State clinched a tournament bid with a 3-0 win over Green Bay.
The junior helped Wright State to a 1-0 win over Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon, setting up the Raiders’ goal with a superbly struck corner kick. The victory was the first for Wright State over the Panthers since 2000.
The two victories helped Wright State finish the regular season with a 5-3-0 Horizon League record, good for the fourth seed in the conference tournament.
Persaud leads the Raiders with six goals and nine assists; those marks rank fifth and first in the Horizon League, respectively; with 21 points, Persaud rankes third in the conference.
The Raiders will open the Horizon League Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 31, when they host fifth-seeded Loyola at Alumni Field. The match will begin at 1 p.m. ET and can be seen live on HorizonLeague.com.
