Dallas, Texas - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has released its midseason watch list for Stopper of the Year, honoring the top relief pitcher in Division I college baseball. The list is comprised of 30 of the nation's leading save men, including Wright State closer Joe Smith.

Smith, who leads the Horizon League with nine saves, has posted a 0.56 ERA in 32.0 innings of work in '06. Smith has struck out 42 batters and walked only ten in 20 appearances, including a 2-0 record, this season.

The NCBWA complies the list with help from the Division I sports information directors and finalists will include the nations saves leaders and four other relief standouts from across the nation. Smith currently ranks 15th in the nation in saves with nine, which bests his 2005 total of eight.

The finalists for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year award will be announced on May 31 with the winner of the award announced on June 7.
