Wright State's Todd Brown named Men's Basketball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS --- Wright State University junior guard Todd Brown has been named Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending March 1. The award is Brown's first of the season and second of his career.

A native of Canton, Ohio, Brown averaged 20 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in two victories as the Raiders (18-12, 12-6 Horizon League) tied for third place in the final regular-season standings. He had 21 points and six rebounds in a 70-60 victory Thursday over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and came back with 19 points in Wright State's 65-64 win Saturday over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on the final day of the season.

For the week, Brown shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field and 80 percent (8-of-10) from the free-throw line. Against Milwaukee, he became the 27th player in Wright State history to surpass 1,000 career points.

Wright State is the fourth seed in this week's Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship and will play host to ninth-seeded Valparaiso University Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET at the Nutter Center. The winner will advance to Friday's second round at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against the winner of the Milwaukee-Loyola University Chicago game.

Comprised of 10 public and private institutions of higher learning, the Horizon League is an NCAA Division I athletics conference that sponsors 19 intercollegiate championships and is headquartered in Indianapolis.
