Fairborn, OH - Post-season honors keep rolling in for the Wright State women's soccer team as three players land on the All-Ohio Team, announced on Thursday, and the 2004 squad was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas (NSCAA).
The Raiders put one player on each of the three teams with senior Mary Beth Young selected First Team All-Ohio. Young was the sparkplug in the Raiders midfield this season as she started all but one game and appeared in all 19 contests. Young scored only two goals, one a game winning goal against Marshall, but assisted on four others as she played the entire field.
Along with Young, fellow senior Blair Kaminski garnered Second Team All-Ohio honors as she was an attacking defenseman in the Raiders' high speed offense. Kaminski appeared in all 19 games, making 17 starts, as she tallied her lone goal against league opponent Youngstown State and handed out three assists for the year.
Sophomore goalie Steph Comisar was the other Raider selected as she took home Honorable Mention honors for an outstanding season in the goal. Comisar wrote her name all over the Raider record books this season, ranking in five categories on the single season records list. Comisar ranked second in Goals Against Average with a 0.98 and became only the second goalkeeper in the history of the program to record an average under 1.00. She also ranked fifth in minutes played (1759:04), tenth in saves (79), tied for third in shutouts (6.0) and tied her own mark, which she shares with Becky Rowland, set last season for goals allowed.
The 2004 squad was also honored with the Team Academic Award from the NSCAA/adidas for their excellence in the classroom. Individually, Young was named Third Team Academic All-District IV earlier this off season by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
