TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Wright State forward Brett Elder (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Christian) has been selected as a Third Team Freshman All-American by College Soccer News.

Elder was selected First Team All-Horizon League and was also named the league's Newcomer of the Year. He finished second in the league in goals scored with nine and tied for second in points with 21.

Of Elder's nine goals, eight came during the final 11 matches of the season, including two at Bowling Green on October 30. He also scored against Davidson, Western Michigan, UIC, Green Bay, Cleveland State, Ohio State and Loyola. Elder also recorded assists versus Davidson, Green Bay and Milwaukee.

Elder is the second WSU player to earn Freshman All-American status as Braden Fleak received Second Team honors in 2006.

"To have a player selected as an All-American is something that has not been seen a lot in WSU soccer history and is an award we feel we will add more names to in the coming years," said Raider head coach Bryan Davis. "To put Brett Elder's name amongst Raider greats like Braden Fleak, Hylton Dayes and Rob Campbell is great.

"The best thing about Brett, though, is that he is not satisfied with just awards and accolades," added Davis. "He, like all of our guys, expect to win. He realizes the work necessary to do so and is willing to put in the extra time in his craft. Both he and our guys are already working on making sure we achieve our goals in the coming year."
