Indianapolis – Wright State junior Nick Scott (Union, Ohio) and Youngstown State senior Allison Mitzel (Poland, Ohio) have been named the Horizon League Golfers of the Week for the period of Sept. 11-24.

Scott was named to the All-Tournament team at the Murray State Invitational after firing a three-round score of 209 to finish in fourth place out of 75 golfers. He opened with a 69 and shot a 67 in the second round before rounding out the tournament with a final round score of 73. The Raiders finished in second place as a team, carding a team score of 865, the lowest for Wright State in a three-round tournament since September of 2011.

Mitzel earned Women’s Golfer of the Week after winning the Clarion Fall Invitational. The win was the first title of the fall for Mitzel and the third of her career. She shot an opening round 76 to take a one-shot lead on the field after day one. She followed up with a closing round of 77 to win the tournament by three strokes over the other 48 competitors. The Penguins won the team-title besting the other seven schools in the Invitational.

Other Top Golfers (Sept. 11-24):
Danielle Crilley, Oakland – Crilley led the Golden Grizzlies at the Mary Fossum Invitational. She shot a final round 76 to finish in a tie for 35th place out of 86 golfers.
Kyle Gaines, Detroit – Gaines scored his second top-10 of the season with a two-round score of 144 to finish in a tie for seventh at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.
Annie Gaugert, Valparaiso – Gaugert led the Crusaders at the Ball State Cardinal Classic, finishing in a tie for 40th out of 98 golfers.
Ryann Gilley, UIC – Gilley shot a career-low 76 last week in the WIU Autumn Invitational. She finished sixth out of 34 golfers.
Allyson Hackman, Cleveland State – Hackman finished in a tie for 36th out of 98 golfers at the Ball State Cardinal Classic.
Paul Minko, Cleveland State – Minko was the Vikings top finisher at the Leo Keenan Invitational, tying for third place with rounds of 66-73. His opening round 66 was a career low and tied for the third lowest round in school history.
Tyler Schmidt, Green Bay – Schmidt posted his career-low round of 71 in the second round at Chicago State. He finished the two-round tournament in a tie for second out of 39 golfers.
Avery Steen, Green Bay – Steen led the Phoenix in both events last week. She’s finished in the top-10 of all three events, this season, including a sixth place finish at the Loyola Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday.
Sarah Thompson, Detroit – Thompson shot a three-round career-low score of 239 to take second place at the Loyola Invitational. It was the highest finish of her collegiate career and third career top-10 finish.
