Indianapolis – Wright State junior Nick Scott (Union, Ohio) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Youngstown State junior Aislynn Merling (York, Pa.) have been named Women’s Golfers of the Week for the period of March 28-April 7.

Scott picked up his third golfer of the week honor after pacing the field at the Wright State Intercollegiate played at the Miami Valley Golf Club in Dayton, Ohio. Scott bested the other 63 golfers with a three-round score of 213. Scott carded the best round of the tournament in the second round, shooting a five-under-par 67. The win is the second of the year for Scott. The junior also took home medalist honors in the fall at the Cleveland State Invitational.

Merling also is being recognized as the golfer of the week for the third time this season after winning the IPFW Spring Classic. Merling was the wire-to-wire winner with round of 72 and 76 to card a two-round total of 148. It’s the second tournament win of the year for Merling. She also won the Delta Gamma Challenge back in February.

Other Top Golfers (March 28-April 7):
Tom Boockmeier, Green Bay – Boockmeier fired a three-round total of 224 to finish in a tie for 16th place at the Wright State Intercollegiate.
Sean Burgess, Oakland – Burgress finished in a tie for sixth-place at the Wright State Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 219.
Sibil Gill, Valparaiso – Gill finished in a tie for 14th place at the IPFW Spring Classic with a two-round score of 156.
Jennifer Kim, UIC – Kim led the Flames at the Bradley Invitational, finishing in a tie for 16th place out of 45 golfers. She shot a three-round score of 244.
Steph Laude, Green Bay – Laude finished in a tie for 29th place at the IPFW Spring Classic.
Elle Nichols, Oakland – Nichols finished in a tie for second, one shot behind the winner, at the IPFW Spring Classic.
Brandon Pluchinsky, Youngstown State – Pluchinsky finished in a tie for 13th place at the Wright State Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 223.
Blake Prince, Cleveland State – Prince finished in a tie for sixth-place at the Wright State Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 219.
Sarah Thompson, Detroit – Thompson tied for sixth place at the IPFW Spring Classic.
Peter Webb, Valparaiso – Webb paced the Crusaders with a three-round total of 216 to finish in a tie for 3rd as Valpo tied for 1st place overall at the Wright State Intercollegiate.
Wil Witmann, Detroit – Witmann finished in 12th place at the Wright State Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 222.
