The Youngstown State women's tennis team will open play in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships against Virginia on Friday, May 9. Joining the Penguins in the four-team Charlottesville Regional are Kentucky and Columbia. The field of 64 was announced on Tuesday evening.

The Penguins and Cavaliers are scheduled to face each other on Friday, May 9 in the second match of the day at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. The first match features the Wildcats and Lions at 10 a.m.

It will be a busy two days for the Virginia tennis programs as the Cavaliers will also be playing host to a men's tennis regional.

YSU posted a 14-11 overall mark this year and reached their first NCAA tournament on the heels of winning the Horizon League Championship last Sunday. Virginia (21-5) was named the third seed of the tournament and is the ACC Tournament and co-regular-season championships. The 21 wins are a school record for the Cavaliers.
