YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown State women's golfer Katie Rogner has qualified for the 109th United States Women's Amateur Golf Championships which will be held August 4-10 in Eugene, Ore.

Rogner, who qualified for the event by carding a 78 in a tournament at Longue Vue Country Club in Veroma, Pa., will be one of 156 golfers to compete at the Eugene Country Club. Practice rounds will take place on August 2-3.

Playing in this event will cap an impressive year for Rogner. In her freshman campaign at YSU, she was named the Horizon League Golfer of the Year, the HL's Newcomer of the Year and took home medalist honors at the 2008 Horizon League Championships.

Last year Maria Jose Uribe, now a sophomore at UCLA, won the Amateur Championship, which was held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
