YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown State women's basketball Head Coach Tisha Hill has resigned from her position effective at the end of the 2007-08 season, Youngstown State Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ron Strollo announced on Friday.
"We would like to thank Coach Hill for her work and effort with our women's basketball program the past five years," Strollo said. "Her student-athletes have always done well in the classroom and have represented Youngstown State in a positive manner."
"The timing of this announcement should not overshadow the importance of our final regular-season game on Saturday at UIC and we realize there is still the Horizon League Tournament to prepare for."
In her fifth season as head coach, Hill currently owns an overall record of 43-97 and 24-57 mark in the Horizon League. She has also mentored YSU's only First-Team All-Horizon League pick (Jen Perugini,2004-05) and two Horizon League All-Newcomer Team selections (Lauren Branson, 2004-05, and Heather Karner, 2006-07).
"I would like to thank Youngstown State University for giving me the opportunity to lead its women's basketball program over the past five seasons," Hill said. "However, at this time, I feel it is in the best interest for both the program and me that I step down at the end of the season so the program can move forward."
"I also want to thank the players and coaches who have worked tremendously hard for me and always represented YSU in a first-class manner."
A national search for Hill's replacement will commence immediately at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season, Strollo added.
After Saturday's contest at UIC, the Penguins host Detroit, Monday, March 10, in the first round of the Horizon League Women's Basketball Tournament. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Beeghly Center.
