Oakland Competes at Michigan Intercollegiate
HILLSDALE, Mich. - Jenae Curley finished the women's 5K in 18th place with a time of 19:27.15 at the Michigan Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships hosted by Hillsdale College on Friday and Alex West finished in 22nd for the men's 8K in 27:17.99. The women finished third in the Division I field, and fifth place out of 13 teams overall while the men did not record a team score for this race.

"I think this group today did a nice job racing on a pretty tough course in a little bit of heat," commented head coach, Paul Rice. "Our top runners pushed really nice in the front packs of each race early on. We just need to continue to work on those middle miles. It's a struggle with every runner, and the more you race, the more you get it. We are really looking forward to making the trip to Bradley next week with our top eight men and women, who didn't race today, and seeing this tough training really pay off in a big race environment."

Behind Curley for the women was Mayce Varacalli finishing in 20th place with a time of 19:33.92 and Courtney Stauffer in 19:55.33, good for a 35th place finish. For the men, Zach Thomas followed West in 26th place with a time of 27:33.39 and Scott Stokan was 35th in 25:59.92.

OU next races in the Bradley Invite in Peoria, Ill. next Saturday, Oct. 19.
