YSU's Patteson Named to Team Canada for World University Softball Championships

Youngstown, Ohio - Youngstown State junior Tiffany Patteson was selected to play for Team Canada at the World University Softball Championships, Oct. 26-31, at the ISF Headquarters in Plant City, Fla., YSU Head Coach Christy Cameron announced.

"This is a great opportunity for Tiff," Cameron said. "She has really worked hard during her time here at Youngstown State and this experience should only make her a better player. She is getting a chance to play against some of the best competition in the world."

Earlier this summer, Patteson was named to the Canadian Olympic Developmental Team and competed at the 2004 Canada Cup.

Last year, Patteson was named to the Canadian National Softball Team and selected to represent her country at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

A two-time first-team All-Horizon League selection, Patteson hit .352 with two triples and three home runs while driving in 33 runs. The Guelph, Ontario, native also set YSU single-season records with 19 doubles and 37 runs scored in 2004.

Patteson, who set the YSU single-season triples record with nine in 2003, ranked fifth in the nation with 0.38 triples per game.

During her career, Patteson owns a career batting average of .336 with 29 doubles, 11 triples, six home runs and 54 runs batted in. She owns the school record for career-best slugging percentage at .547 while her batting average ranks tied for second all-time in YSU history. Patteson also ranks second in career triples and tied for fourth in doubles.
