INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State’s Samantha Hamilton (Jackson Milton, Ohio) and Milwaukee’s Moriah Myles (Harvey, Ill.) have been named the Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 9 - 15.
Hamilton, a junior for the Penguins, competed in the 3000-meter run at the Akron Open. In her first indoor race of the season, she had a first place finish with a time of 9:53.58, which is a school record and it broke her previous personal best (9:57.31) by four seconds.
Myles competed in the shot put and the weight throw for Milwaukee at the Carthage Invitational. The junior had a first place finish in the shot put with a toss of 42-8.75 out of 31 competitors. In the weight throw, she took second to her teammate with a heave of 50-4.75.
Youngstown State will be back in action on Jan. 27 when it hosts the YSU Invitational and face off with conference foe Wright State. The Panthers will host Marquette on Jan. 20 for a dual in the Klotsche Center at 6 p.m.
