INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State’s Samantha Hamilton (North Jackson, Ohio) and Valparaiso’s Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill.) have been named the Horizon League’s Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 6 - 12.

Hamilton has won her second Athlete of the Week honor in a row and her third this season after running in the Akron Invitational over the weekend. She competed in the 5000m run and crushed the school record by 20 seconds with a time of 16:51.28 to finish first. The time also beat her previous personal best by nearly 30 seconds.

Drozdowski won her first Athlete of the Week honor this season after competing at the GVSU Big Meet in two events. She had a sixth place finish in the shot put with a heave of 13.06m and 15th in the weight throw out of 63 competitors with a toss of 15.48m. It was a personal record for the sophomore in the shot put and the third-best mark in school history.
