INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State sophomore third baseman Samantha Snodgrass (South Charleston, W.Va.) has been named the Horizon League Softball Player of the Week, while Butler sophomore Leah Bry (Oak Park, Ill.) has earned Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week honors, for the week of April 16-22.

Snodgrass led Youngstown State (26-13-1, 10-8 Horizon) to a 5-1 week as the Penguins swept Detroit before taking two of three games from visiting Wright State. Appearing in six games for Butler (20-27, 10-8 Horizon), Bry notched all four wins earned by the Bulldogs on the week.

Recording a .375 batting average, Snodgrass posted a .938 slugging percentage, clubbing two home runs and driving in 11 on the week. The sophomore’s first homer of the week was a three-run shot that helped lead to a 9-0 victory. In a key series win over Wright State, Snodgrass finished with seven RBI, including a three-run homer in the series opener and a four-RBI effort in the rubber game of the series.

Appearing in all six games the Bulldogs played, Bry posted a 1.59 ERA in 34 innings, striking out 37. Bry pitched Butler to a sweep of visiting Detroit over the weekend, earning the win in all three games. The righthander allowed just eight hits over 16 innings of work against the Titans, striking out 20. Bry started the week with nine strikeouts in a complete game victory against Wright State.

Youngstown State will travel to Toledo on Tuesday, April 24 and St. Bonaventure on Thursday, April 26, for non-conference doubleheaders this week before hosting UIC in Horizon League play over the weekend. The Penguins and Flames will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 28, with a single game wrapping the series on Sunday, April 29.

Its home schedule complete, Butler will hit the road for two series, beginning at Horizon League leader Valparaiso on April 25-26. The Bulldogs will then head to Cleveland State for a three-game set versus the Vikings, with a Saturday doubleheader opening the series at 1 p.m. ET and a lone game on Sunday wrapping the series at 12 p.m. ET.
