Lauren Kenney (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville H.S.) scored a season-high 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds while Kelly Watts (Gary, Ind./East Chicago Central H.S.) added a season-high 14 points and nine boards, but it was not quite enough on Thursday evening as Valparaiso was defeated by Detroit 72-70 in overtime at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Maggie McCloskey and Keisha Collins scored 15 points apiece and Loyola hit some clutch free throws down the stretch as the Ramblers earned their first-ever win over a ranked opponent, toppling unbeaten No. 18/14 Green Bay, 65-63, tonight at the Gentile Center. Loyola moves to 10-8 (4-3 Horizon) with the win while the Phoenix drop to 16-1 (5-1) while dropping from the ranks of the unbeaten.

A season-high five Butler players scored in double digits and BU controlled the entire game as the Bulldog women’s basketball team defeated Wright State, 77-61, Thursday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Junior Chloe Hamilton led Butler with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Juniors Brittany Bowen and Alyssa Pittman each had 13.

Senior guard Brandon McPherson (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) scored his 1,000th career point to cap the run, becoming the 29th player in Valpo history to reach the milestone.
