MediumSmith took home second and third against Michigan State, posting a score of 312.75 on the 3-meter board and a 293.47 on the 1-meter.


Youngstown State

Bec Stafford

Hometown: Brisbane, Australia

MediumStafford won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards against IUPUI. Her score of 265.35 on the 3-meter was best by 10 points, while she beat the field by almost 25 points with a score of 268.58 on the 1M.


Green Bay

Racheal Weiland

Hometown: Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

MediumWeiland took two individual wins against Northern Michigan, touching first in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.


Wright State

Mark Alstork

Hometown: Dayton, Ohio

MediumAlstork won his first Horizon League Player of the Week honor after helping lead Wright State to a 3-0 week. He averaged 17.3 points per game and connected on 54.8% of his field goal attempts, including hitting 53.8 percent (7-of-13) of his three-point attempts. He opened the week with 21 points as the Raiders beat Detroit, 77-76. On Friday, he scored 12 points as Wright State handed Valparaiso its first League loss. He closed the week with 19 points and nine rebounds in the win over UIC.


Green Bay

Leopold Gomez-Islinger

Hometown: Weiden, Germany

MediumGomez-Islinger went 3-0 at No. 1 singles as Green Bay opened the season 2-1. The senior also went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, partnering with Florian Kraenzler.


UIC

Dikembe Dixson

Hometown: Freeport, Ill.

MediumDixson captured his fifth Horizon League Freshman of the Week award this season. The six-foot-seven forward averaged 22.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in three games last week. He registered his third career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in UIC’s overtime loss at Northern Kentucky on Friday. He followed up with a career-high 29 points as the Flames fell at Wright State.


Wright State

Linsey Verstrepen

Hometown: Westerlo, Belgium

MediumVerstrepen helped lead Wright State to a season-opening win at Dayton, winning at both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. The singles win came in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.


Oakland

Tuomas Kiviluoma

Hometown: Espoo, Finland

MediumCompeting against Michigan State, Kiviluoma captured two individual wins, taking first in the 200 freestyle (1:40.97) and the 200 IM (1:52.47).


Milwaukee

Gerrit Bruni

Hometown: Baraboo, Wis.

MediumBruni took first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:33.25 at the John Tierney Quadrangular meet. Winning the event by nearly two seconds, the senior set a new meet record along with having the second-fastest time in the Horizon League this year.


Youngstown State

Amber Eles

Hometown: Macedonia, Ohio

MediumSetting a personal record, Eles won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.60 at the YSU College Invitational. Her time tied with the current school record and places her at the top of the Horizon league.


Detroit Mercy

Aisha Potts-Tyre

Hometown: Maumee, Ohio

MediumPotts-Tyre picked up three wins and a third place finish for the day at the IPFW Duels. The senior placed first in the long jump with a jump of 5.18m and in triple jump with a jump of 11.13m. She went on to claim first in the 60 meter hurdles sprinting to a time of 9.15. In addition she finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.97m.


Youngstown State

Connor Neu

Hometown: Brook Park, Ohio

MediumNeu claimed a victory in the weight throw at the YSU College Invitational with a throw of 21.41 meters, breaking his own school record of 20.94 meters. His throw ranks seventh in the nation, qualifying Neu for NCAA National Championships.
