HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- After 36 holes of the of the 2011 Horizon League Women's Golf Championship, Butler took the lead with a four-stroke lead over Detroit.

The Bulldogs posted a 317 in the second round on Saturday for a combined 650 and moved ahead of the second-place Titans who shot a 654 (326, 328).    Cleveland State moved up the standings and is tied for third with Loyola at 670.  The Vikings carded a 332 while Loyola shot a 341 in the second round.

After finishing the first round tied for either, Butler junior Michele Nash moved into the number one slot after shooting a tournament-low two-under par 71 in the second round to make a 36-hole score of 154.  Detroit senior Alainna Stefan, the 2010 individual medalist, held onto her second -place start, just two strokes back, after carding an 81.

Youngstown State’s Samantha Formeck shot an 83 in the second round after a first round 74, and slipped to third, but is just three strokes back from the lead.

On the men’s side, Cleveland State continues in the lead after 36 holes with a three-stroke lead over Detroit.

The Vikings shot a 308 for the second straight day for a two round score of 616, while Detroit shaved nine strokes off its first round score to card a 305.  Loyola moved up the standings into third place after shooting a 315 again on Saturday, while Wright State and Valparaiso tied for fourth at 631.

Cleveland State’s Andrew Bailey continues to lead all individuals as the freshman turned in a one-under par 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second round for a 36-hole 148.  Vikings teammate Michael Klaric III is just one stroke behind after carding a 74, while Detroit’s Mark Hicks and Loyola’s Dylan Gergen are tied for third at 150.

The final round of 2011 Horizon League Golf Championships will start tomorrow morning with the men and women teeing off of split tees at 7:30am ET.  The men will tee off of the first hole, with the women starting on the back and teeing off of the tenth.
