Starting Five All Score In Double-Figures As CSU Defeats Belmont, 89-86-- Box Score
CLEVELAND, Ohio – All five Cleveland State starters scored in double-figures Tuesday afternoon, leading the women's basketball team to an 89-86 victory over Belmont. With the win, the Vikings improve to 6-3 on the season, and remain perfect at home (5-0).
Imani Gordon finished with a team-high 25 points along with a team-high six assists, while Alexis Eckles posted her second double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Kiersten Green added 17 points, while Cori Coleman notched 16 and Brooke Smith tied her career-high with 13 points. CSU's final three points came from Allison Mitchell who tallied three points.
Eckles also tied her career-high with five blocks on the game, and posted four assists and two steals.
As a team, CSU shot 57-percent from the floor (35-for-61) and recorded 19 assists. Read more
Women's Basketball Stays Unbeaten At Home-- Box Score
CHICAGO - The UIC women's basketball team (8-1) won its fifth straight game Tuesday night with a 70-44 home victory over Chicago State (1-8). The Flames have won five straight meetings with the Cougars.
UIC is 6-0 at home this season and has outscored opponents by an average of 18.2 points in Chicago. The Flames have won 12 consecutive home contests overall as UIC finished the 2013-14 season with six straight home victories. UIC is outscoring its last 12 home opponents by an average of 17.3 points per game.
UIC is off to its best nine-game start in the Division I era (1981-present). The Flames have won five straight games for the first time since Jan. 16-29, 2014. The 2014 WBI Champions have won 12 of their last 13 contests dating back to last season. Read more
