The Youngstown State women's basketball team closed out regulation on a 12-4 run and went 33-of-35 from the free throw line to beat Robert Morris 73-65 in overtime on Wednesday evening at the Sewall Center.
Jenna Hirsch scored eight points during that stretch, and Youngstown State found a way to win despite trailing for more than 38 minutes in regulation.
Hirsch hit two free throws with 3:44 left in overtime to give YSU a 63-61 advantage, its first lead of the game, and the Penguins stayed ahead the rest of the contest. Read more
Oakland Outlasts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 61-54-- Box Score
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Olivia Nash scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Oakland women's basketball team to a 61-54 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday night at the American Bank Center. The Golden Grizzlies earned its first road win of the season.
Nash tallied her second 20-point performance of the season by hitting a career-best 11 field goals with nine rebounds. Elena Popkey tallied 10 points, while Peyton Apsey also grabbed nine boards.
Oakland took a 33-26 lead at the break as it ended the half on a 15-5 run over the final 3:55 as Leah Somerfield scored five points. Nash closed the half with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The Golden Grizzlies shot 42.3 percent (11-26) from the field in the opening period. Read more
