Green Bay 1, Northern Kentucky 0
Green Bay gave new head coach Dan Popik a win in his debut with the Phoenix, knocking off visiting Northern Kentucky, 1-0, at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
The lone goal of the contest came with 38:32 to play in the second half when an NKU defender mishandled the ball and Kirby Allenpicked it up on the top left side of the box. NKU goalie A.J. Fleak stepped up in the box, allowing Allen to score the goal in the lower right corner.

Cleveland State 2, Robert Morris 0
Cleveland State used an early goal and pressuring offense to take down Robert Morris 2-0 on the road.
The Vikings got off to a strong start to the 2012 season offensively especially, taking just under 11 minutes to put a shot in the back of the net.
Freshman midfielder Cristian Arboleda took a pass from junior Zach Ellis-Hayden on a nice pass combination just outside the box to get CSU on the board.
Although Cleveland State (1-0-0) only got one goal in the first half of play, it put pressure on the Colonials defense all half long. Controlling possession for much of the half CSU was able to out-shoot Robert Morris 11-3, including a 6-2 shots on goal advantage.
The attack eventually paid off for CSU again as Mike Derezic scored his first goal on the young season in the 73rd minute of play off a pass from Admir Suljevic. Suljevic got the ball off a CSU corner and found Derezic for the goal just outside the 18-yard box.
Brad Stuver turned aside six shots on goal to record the shutout.

In a physical match, Valparaiso opened its season by collecting a result at Michigan State, battling to a 0-0 draw.
45 fouls were called between the Spartans and Valparaiso (0-0-1), while scoring chances were few and far between throughout the contest. The second half saw Valpo out-shoot the Spartans, 4-2, with Jordan Aidoudand Jesse Ortizputting shots on frame. Meanwhile, Crusader goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck saved one shot in the first half and then made a stop in the 89th minute to send the match into extra time scoreless.
The Crusaders had an opportunity off a corner kick in the 100th minute as the first overtime session neared time, but the effort from Todd Vervynckt was saved by Dobbins. Valpo also had an effort on net by Kevin Millerin the 103rd minute, but that was also stopped. Michigan State had one shot in each overtime period, but neither of them was on frame.
Zobeck made three stops in net to preserve the clean sheet in the opener, while Dobbins made four saves in the opposite goal for his own shutout.
DePaul 2, UIC 1
UIC found the equalizer in the 71st minute, but Thiago Ganancio’s second goal of the match sent the Flames to a 2-1 setback at the hands of DePaul.
UIC (0-1-0) found itself trailing 1-0 after Ganancio’s first goal of the year came in the 62nd minute. Just nine minutes later, however, the Flames would earn a corner and capitalize. Ivan Stanisavljevic, the reigning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year, sent the corner into the box, where Zach Kaleta converted the equalizer.
In the waning minutes, however, Ganancio struck again, sending the Blue Demons to the victory.
Central Arkansas 2, Loyola 1 (OT)
After a scoreless second half, Central Arkansas recorded the game-winning goal less than two minutes into overtime, knocking off Loyola, 2-1, at the Loyola Soccer Park.
Andrew Raymonds picked up his first goal of the year, helping Loyola (0-1-0) tie Central Arkansas at a goal apiece 40 minutes into the match. Brian Bement fed a low cross into the box, where Raymonds slotted his shot from 10 yards out.

IUPUI 2, Detroit 0
Kyle Hyland scored two goals to lead IUPUI past Detroit, 2-0, at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Friday night.
In the evenly played match, Detroit (0-1-0) could not capitalize on its chances, while Hyland buried two of his three shots on goal for the Jaguars. The goal that proved to be the game-winner came in the 57th minute, as Hyland’s shot from 20 yards out evaded Nathan Steinwascher.
With Detroit pressing up, Hyland would convert a breakaway to seal the result.
Marquette 3, Milwaukee 2
Milwaukee led twice, only to suffer a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Marquette, losing its grip on the Milwaukee Cup for the first time in two years.
Goals by Cody Banks and Declan Rodriguez looked to be enough Milwaukee (0-1-0), but a pair of goals in the final eight minutes - including the game-winner as time expired – stunned the Panthers.
With the match tied, 1-1, Rodriguez picked up a highlight-reel goal at the 69:50 mark that gave UWM its second lead of the contest. He picked up a loose ball near the sideline and carried it through a pair of defenders and took off towards the goal. He fired it from 25 yards out and netted it for the first tally of his collegiate career.
However, Marquette would capitalize in the 82nd minute, when UWM keeper John Shakon went to clear a ball from the front of his goal, but pulled a large divot out of the field on the kick. The ball went right to Marquette's Adam Lysak, who was all by himself in front of the net and easily tied the game at 2-2.
Sebastian Jansson then stunned the entire crowd with one second left, volleying a ball to the far post that went into the net as time expired.
Shakon did make a brilliant save in the 88th minute that seemed to have the match headed to overtime, making a sprawling stop across the mouth of the goal at the 87:51 mark.
Scoreless at the half, the Panthers struck first. Banks finished a wonderful goal at the 50:13 mark, taking a touch and rocketing a ball past the MU keeper off a centering pass from Dorian O’Lochlayne from about 10 yards out.
Marshall 2, Wright State 0
Wright State fell behind early and could not recover in dropping a 2-0 decision to Marshall in the season opener Friday night at the Fields at Trace Fork in Charleston, West Virginia.
Tom Jackson gave the Thundering Herd a quick 1-0 lead just 1:35 on a goal off a throw-in and Jackson added another score at the 37:29 mark to make it 2-0.
Both teams finished with 10 shots and WSU had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, but the Raiders could not take advantage.
