INDIANAPOLIS –Cleveland State’s Berry Thompson is the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week and Josh Gonzalez is the Men’s Diver of the Week for Nov 16-22.
Thompson, a sophomore from Woodmere, Ohio has won swimmer of the week for the third time this season after competing at the Northwester TYR Invitational last weekend. He won the 50 (20.54) and 100 Freestyle (45.25) leading the Vikings to a second-place finish out of five teams. Thompson also competed in the 200 (1:22.61), 400 (3:04.99) and 800 (6:54.36) Freestyle Relays along with the 400 Medley Relay team (3:25.09).
Gonzalez, a junior from Brunswick, Ohio was Cleveland State’s top diver in all three events last weekend. He took two second-place finishes; he recorded a 276.65 in the three-meter and scored a 228.55 on the platform dive. Gonzalez also competed in the one-meter dive (247.70).
Cleveland State will host the City College Meet on Nov. 30. Diving competition will begin at 3:00pm (EST) with swimming competition starting at 5pm.
