After the first day of competition at the 2010 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, Cleveland State men and Milwaukee women jump out to an early lead.

The Vikings totaled 142 points, winning the 200-yard freestyle and medley relays while sophomore Mark deSwardt took home gold in the 1000 free and sophomore Josh Gonzalez claimed the top podium spot off the three-meter board.  CSU sits in front of Milwaukee and UIC with 131 and 129 points, respectively.

The Panther women posted 111 first-day points with the highlight of the evening coming from junior Danielle Wenger. She broke her own 1000 free record in a blistering time of 9:51.81, destroying the old mark by nearly 15 seconds. UWM is trailed by Wright State and Green Bay with 106 points each.

Action begins again on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT with the prelims of the 500 free.
