Detroit 61, Milwaukee 59
Detroit overcame a 12-point first half deficit to defeat Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center, 61-59.

The Titans trailed 29-17 with 3:55 left before halftime, but closed the half on a 9-2 run to enter halftime down by five, 31-26.

Senee Shearer started the second half by connecting on one of her game-high five three-pointers and hit another one three minutes later to give Detroit its first lead since early in the first half.

Shareta Brown’s layup with 13:48 on the clock completed a 21-4 run that spanned both halves.

The Titans never trailed again and took a 10-point lead at 55-45 when Shearer made another three-pointer, but Milwaukee scored on three consecutive possessions to get within two at 55-53, on an Emily Decorah three-pointer with 3:58 remaining.

The Panthers would get as close at 57-56 and had the ball with the chance to take a lead, but UWM missed a three-pointer and Yar Shayok connected on a jumper to give UDM a three point lead and Shearer made two free throws to extend Detroit’s lead to 61-56.

Shearer finished with a game-high 19 points, while Brown finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Shayok also was in double figures for the Titans with 12 points.

Sami Tucker led Milwaukee with her second straight double-double, finishing with 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Ashely Green (13) and Emily Decorah (12) also reached double figures for the Panthers.

The Panthers outrebounded the the Horizon League’s best rebounding squad by seven and made 10 three-pointers in the contest, but shot just 27.8% (10-36) from long distance and only forced seven Detroit turnovers.

Green Bay 99, UIC 53
Green Bay rolled to victory on Saturday afternoon, going on a 31-2 run in the first half, to defeat UIC, 99-53.

UIC was within two, 11-9, after a Katie Hannemann layup with 13:51 remaining in the half, but the Flames would only score two points in the next 11 minutes of action as the Phoenix broke open the game.
Bauer scored 11 of her game-high 23 points during the run. The senior forward finished the game 10-15 from the field, knocking down three three-pointers.

Breannah Ranger came off the bench to score a career-high 16 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor. Jenny Gilbertson also came off the bench to score 14 points. Adrian Ritchie and Stephanie Sension both had 12 points as all 10 Green Bay players that played scored.

For the game, Green Bay connected on 57.1% (36-63) of its shots and had assists on 34 of its 36 field goals. GB also outrebounded UIC by 13 and finished with 15 steals.

Taylor Foulks (14) and Rachel Story (12) were the only UIC players to reach double figures. Foulks was 5-7 from the field, including 4-6 from three-point range.

Valparaiso 92, Cleveland State 84 (OT)
Valparaiso’s front court duo of Tabitha Gerardot and Gina Lange combined to score 15 of the Crusaders 17 points in overtime as Valparaiso outlasted Cleveland State, 92-84, in overtime.

Gerardot scored 11 of her game-high 32 points in the extra period and also pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds in the contest. She was 12-25 from the field, including 2-3 from three-point range, and 6-7 of the foul line. Eight of her 19 rebounds were on the offensive end.

Lange finished with a career-high 24 points on 11-15 shooting from the field. Lange’s layup with less than one second remaining in regulation forced overtime.

Behind the efforts of the two forwards, Valpo held a 60-32 advantage over Cleveland State in points in the paint.

Valparaiso jumped on the Vikings out of the game, leading 16-2 six minutes into the game. CSU went on a 14-4 run late in the half to cut the lead to 29-27, but the Crusaders responded with an 8-2 run to take a 37-29 lead into halftime.

Cleveland State started the second half on a 10-2 run, tying the game at 39 on a Shalonda Winton three-pointer. A couple of minutes later Honesty King hit a three-pointer to give the Vikings their first lead of the game at 46-44, but CSU’s lead was brief though as the Crusaders went on a 14-4 run to take a 58-50 lead with 10:44 left.

The Vikings had a couple more runs in them though as they went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 60 and after Valpo took a 69-63 lead with 5:25 left in the game, the Vikings answered again with a 12-4 run to take a 75-73 with a little more than a minute remaining.

Winton finished with a team-high 28 points for Cleveland State as all five Viking starters reached double figures. Kiersten Green chipped in 18 points and King had 14, while Cori Coleman and Imani Gordon both finished with 11 points. CSU’s starters combined to score 82 of the team’s 84 points.
