Detroit 1, Green Bay 0
The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team was looking for a Horizon League victory and it came in the 93rd minute with an own goal against the Green Bay Phoenix Saturday as the Titans won 1-0 in overtime.

Senior Kaitlyn Quarrell crossed the ball from the left side of the 18-yard box and then watched as the ball went off a Green Bay defender and into the net at 92:50 for the lone goal of the match.

The win helped Detroit (7-6-1, 1-2 Horizon League) improve to 5-0 at home this season. It was also the team's ninth straight win at Titan Field. UDM is now 22-5-2 in its last 29 home games dating back to the start of the 2010 season.

Detroit and Green Bay (4-5-1, 1-2 Horizon League) each controlled possession with each having offensive opportunities in the first half. Despite the control, the teams went into the break with a 0-0 score.

Green Bay had an advantage in total shots by a 3-2 margin and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks in the opening frame. Detroit came back with a 5-2 edge in shots in the second and finished with a 7-5 advantage overall.

UDM sophomore goalkeeper Martha Dunbar had two saves in the first half and did not have to make another save the rest of the way in recording her fourth shutout of the season.

Milwaukee 2, Cleveland State 0
Freshman Alleina Szydlowski scored and assisted and freshman keeper Paige Lincicum posted her first collegiate shutout to lead Milwaukee to a 2-0 victory over Cleveland State University Saturday night at Krenzler Field.

UWM (5-7-1, 3-0-0 Horizon) handed the Vikings (7-6-1, 1-2-0) their first home loss of the season after CSU had previously been 6-1-1 on its home field.

The win is the third-straight for the Panthers, who now sit alone atop the league standings with nine points. It also marks win number 299 in program history.

The Panthers got on the board right out of the gates in just the seventh minute of the game. Kelsey Holbert fired a free kick from 25 yards out right at the goal. Viking keeper Sarah Wood was able to make the initial save, but Szydlowski immediately pounced on the rebound for her first collegiate goal.
Holbert again almost scored on a blast from distance just before the break, but Wood was able to push the ball over the crossbar and keep UWM to just a one-goal lead at the half.

Krissy Dorre then made it 2-0 for Milwaukee midway through the second half off a shot from 10 yards out for her league-leading eighth goal of the season, with assists going to Amy Kauffung and Szydlowski.

With a two-goal lead, the Panthers kept pushing for more, but Kelly Lewers' shot in the 74th minute hit the crossbar and Wood was able to reign in the rebound.

Lincicum was called on to make three saves on the night for her first career shutout.

Milwaukee dominated the stat sheet on the night, outshooting the Vikings 13-6. Corner kicks were 9-1 in Milwaukee's favor. UWM made three saves to CSU's four and the foul count was 11-8, Cleveland State.

Oakland 2, Youngstown State 0
Two first-half goals by Sarah Reynolds and Kyla Kellermann and another staunch effort by the Oakland defense resulted in a 2-0 shutout victory for the Golden Grizzlies' women's soccer team over Youngstown State Saturday evening at OU Soccer Field. The win pushes Oakland to 6-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the Horizon League, while the Penguins fall to 3-9-1, 1-2-0.

Oakland had its foot on the gas all night, rattling off 29 shots, including 14 shots on goal. On the second of seven corner kicks on the night for the Golden Grizzlies, Oakland got on the board in the 14th minute when Alice Palmer's corner on the left side found the head of Reynolds for her second goal of the season.

Less than five minutes later Oakland was on the board again, this time with a combination play by Kellermann and Rachel DeLuca. Kellermann worked a give-and-go on the right side with Deluca to give Kellermann a close-range look. Kellermann converted for her fourth goal of the season and second in as many games.

Although Oakland out-shot Youngstown State 19-3 in the second half, the Golden Grizzlies did not add to their lead for the remainder of the game. Meghan Reynolds led Oakland with seven shots, including five strikes on frame.

Oakland goalkeeper Payj O'Shea recorded her second shutout of the week with three saves to her credit. Youngstown State's defense was credited with 12 saves.

Valparaiso 0, Wright State 0 (2ot)
A matchup of two of the top defenses in the Horizon League played out according to form Saturday afternoon at Brown Field, as Valparaiso and Wright State played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in a double-overtime, 0-0 draw.

The first half saw the Crusaders out-shoot the Raiders 5-2, including three shots on goal, all of which were handled by WSU goalkeeper Brooke McCurdy.  Valpo also earned five first-half corner kicks, but was unable to capitalize on any of them.  On the other end, the Raiders had just two shots, but threatened in the final minute, as Kristen Manski was well off her line to save a shot from Emilie Fillion.

In the second three-quarters of an hour, Valpo held a slight 8-6 advantage in shots.  Both sides had solid chances in a 30-second stretch with about 15 minutes to play, starting with a Wright State breakaway.  Fillion carried the ball down the right-hand flank and was one-on-one with Manski, but her shot from about 15 yards out was along the ground right at the Crusader goalkeeper.

On the ensuing runout following Manski’s save, the Crusaders pushed forward quickly and got the ball into the attacking third.  Junior Kristen Warner delivered a line-drive pass from the top left corner of the 18 towards the far post, meeting the run of freshman Robin Wenzel, but Wenzel was unable to control and put a shot on frame, as the game remained scoreless.

Overtime saw Wright State put the only shot on goal late in the first extra period, as Ini Umotong sent an effort from distance in the 99th minute that was easily stopped by Manski.  The Crusaders had a couple nice passes in the second extra period find runs by freshman Morgan Manzke, but both of her shots went over the crossbar.

The Crusaders ended the game with a 17-9 edge in shots and also attempted 11 corner kicks to the Raiders’ four.  Manski stopped four shots to earn the clean sheet, while McCurdy made three saves for Wright State (5-4-4, 2-0-1 Horizon).
