Oakland's Kahlil Felder earns Lou Henson award national player of the week honors.
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.
The junior guard, who was named the Horizon League's Preseason Player of the Year in October in voting of the League's head coaches, sports information directors and media, was named the Horizon League Player of the Week earlier in the day.
Felder opened the season with back-to-back double-double performances to earn Player of the Week honors. On Wednesday night in Oakland’s season-opener, Felder led all scorers with 27 points and also passed out 12 assists as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Eastern Michigan, 91-81. The junior guard added two steals in the win and had just one turnover.
On Sunday, Felder again led all scorers with 23 points and handed out 10 assists in the Golden Grizzlies 95-89 loss at Colorado State.
Ten days into the regular season, Felder leads all Horizon League players in points per game (25.0) and assists per game (11.0), while ranking second in free throw percentage (94.7; 18-of-19) and third in assist:turnover ratio (3.7).
