Green Bay Wins Seventh Straight; #HLMBB Update Jan. 12

Green Bay connected on 14-of-27 3-point attempts, claiming its seventh straight win and improving to 5-0 in Horizon League play with a 78-61 win against Wright State. Valparaiso (13-4 overall) got a double-double from Alec Peters and moved to 3-1 in Horizon League play as the Crusaders picked up a road win at Youngstown State. UIC leveled its league mark at 2-2 with a road victory at Cleveland State while Milwaukee earned its first league win of the season by knocking off Northern Kentucky behind 18 points from Brock Stull.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Warren Jones and Charles Cooper combined for 35 points off the bench as Green Bay broke away after halftime to defeat Wright State 78-61 on Thursday night, continuing on a seven-game winning streak.

Jones a season-high 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range, Cooper shot 6 of 10 from the floor and collected nine rebounds as the Phoenix (11-6, 5-0) remain undefeated in Horizon League play. Khalil Small scored 11 points and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.

Valparaiso 78, at Youngstown State 62*
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) -- Alec Peters had 17 points and 15 rebounds and Shane Hammink added 15 points to help Valparaiso beat Youngstown State 78-62 on Thursday night.

Peters and Tevonn Walker had back-to-back 3s to give Valparaiso (13-4, 3-1 Horizon League) its largest lead at 69-46 with 7:29 left. Youngstown State (8-10, 2-3) scored eight straight to narrow the margin to 73-58 with 2:14 left. The Crusaders pulled away with a 14-0 run that spanned both halves and ended at 48-30 with on Derrik Smits' layup with 18:01 left.

UIC 59, at Cleveland State 54*
CLEVELAND -- Godwin Boahen scored seven of 10 points during a 24-7 second-half run to help UIC beat Cleveland State 59-54 on Thursday night.

The Vikings led 39-30 before UIC took a 54-46 lead 2:18 remaining. Boahen made two layups and a 3-pointer, Dominique Matthews scored six of his 11 points, and Tarkus Ferguson added five of his six points during the stretch.

at Milwaukee 68, Northern Kentucky 58*
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Brock Stull scored 18 points and Milwaukee, playing at home for the first time in three weeks, put Northern Kentucky away in the second half to post a 68-58 Horizon League victory Thursday night.

Stull hit 7 of 10 shots from the field, including 3 of 5 from long range, and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Panthers, who started the season playing 12 of their first 16 games on the road.
