GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – This week it appears that 13 is definitely the lucky number for the Green Bay (25-1, 14-0 HL) women’s basketball team. The Phoenix received its highest ranking in program history at No. 13 in this week’s ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll released Tuesday.

Prior to its No. 13 ranking, Green Bay had been ranked 14th three times in program history, one of which was last week. This week’s ranking comes off the heels of capturing at least a share of Green Bay’s 13th-consecutive regular-season Horizon League championship, the nation’s longest active streak. The Phoenix has an opportunity to own sole possession of the title with a win Thursday against Valparaiso (7-20, 4-11 HL) at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center.

In this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll, Green Bay is No. 17 for the second-consecutive week, its highest of the season. Through games on Feb. 20, the Phoenix is ranked in the top eight in eight of the 18 national statistical categories including second in free-throw percentage (79.1), won-lost percentage (96.2) and assists per game (20.0), fourth in turnover margin (8.0), sixth in scoring defense (51.5) and eighth in scoring margin (21.5), three-point field goal defense (25.8) and assist turnover ratio (1.22).

Green Bay will play its final pair of regular-season home games at the Kress Events Center this week, including its Thursday match-up against Valparaiso. Saturday the Phoenix will host Butler (17-10, 11-4 HL) at 2 p.m. in its annual PinkZone game in conjunction with senior day.
